The Invisible

Ugh… I was (sadly) looking forward to this movie. From the previews I thought it looked like it might be pretty good.

WHAT A CRAPFEST.

It was slow, predictable, boring, and dumb.

Has anyone else seen it? What did you think of it?

You might find rottentomatoes.com a helpful place to check in order to avoid movie disappointments like you had. For instance, “The Invisible” has an 18% rating with 8 positive reviews and 37 negative . That’s a pretty clear indication that the movie sucks. I’m inclined to like sci-fi or horror films but I wouldn’t waste the time or money on a movie that the overwhelming majority of people who write about cinema for a living say is poor. That’s why RT is such a good place to check. You may agree or disagree with one particular critic but when you can see a consensus of opinion you are better able to make intelligent movie choices. Even if your choice is to delibrately go see a crappy movie.

Aw, crud. The trailers made it look interesting. I was looking forward to it. :: sigh ::

Ok, I’ll put in a contrary opinion. I really enjoyed it. I thought the character development was interesting and by the end of the movie I really came to care about both the protagonist and antagonist. And even the mother.

J.

I’m going to have to remember that. I mean, I know of rottontomatoes.com, but I never think to go there.

I see what you’re saying, I just thought it accomplished all of that a little too slowly.

[spoiler] The mother was so cold and stone faced. I get it, she’s sad… but after 6 years?

The girl really wasn’t so bad after all, just a crappy life. She used to be a good kid. Was the implication that her x-cop dad sexually abused her? Couldn’t they have given a little more info on why her old man wasn’t on the police force anymore?

We know Annie dies at the end, what about the “friend” that over dosed? Not that I really care… but if you’re going to go through the motions of his dad saying “call 911” at least show us if he lived or died.

I just didn’t think it was made as well as it could have been.
