The iPhone is absolutely brilliant

For those interested, here’s a rather interesting comparison between the Treo and iPhone: Palm Treo vs. the iPhone: 10 Rounds

posting this from my iPhone. I don’t usually go for this kind of thing, but it really is brilliant. Last time I was this excited about something was when I bought my chair that had a built in refrigerator. This is almost as good. It’s a real browser, a real phone, a real media player (audio and video.) As far as email, calender and contacts; It syncs perfectly with my Outlook.

Most importantly for me, it does this all really easily and intuitevely. A coworker got the Cibgular 8525 a couple of months ago and he’s still trying to figure out how to use this that thing. I picked this thing up and could just use it. Cool.

What I like best is this keyboard. This really is brilliant! It really is predictive and almost impossible to make typos with. If you read my posts you know how prone to typos I am. This thing just fixes them as I go.

All you naysayers can bite me. With this thing I can change the world. Nothing can stop me now! Bwahhahhhah!

Bolding mine.

but look how few comparitively

That’s a feaure I discovered that my “regular” iPod doesn’t have: the iPhone can sync music/video/contacts/etc. with my home Mac, AND synch the Outlook calendar (only) from my work Windows box. My iPod Video looses it’s mind when you try to sync it with two different computers–the iPhone does it fine.

My dad was over for the 4th, in showing him my iPhone, he asked “yeh, but how easy is it gonna be to scratch that screen?!”.

Without saying a word, i took out my keys and went to town on the glass. His eyes lit up wide. It was great… And not a single scratch!

Talk about a leap of faith there, huh?

Nooo!
Confidence.

Wait till I chuck this thing off the roof onto my driveway!

Also, FTR, I can attest this thing can withstand the 5.5 Gs of the Top Thrill Dragster. Twice.

At what height would it reach terminal velocity? Anything higher makes no difference, so you might as well go for the Empire State Building!
No ba*** if you don’t. :stuck_out_tongue:

I can only imagine the terminal velocity of the iPhone would be pretty high considering how sleek it is. Maybe I’ll just keep it in my pocket after all.

That’d be a cool tech spec on Apple’s site tough:

Size and weight
Height: 4.5 inches (115 mm)
Width: 2.4 inches (61 mm)
Depth: 0.46 inch (11.6 mm)
Weight: 4.8 ounces (135 grams)
Terminal Velocity: 284 mph (457 kph)

Oh good, I thought that was just me. I have my iPod set up so it doesn’t sync up and I tried to get the iPhone to do that too, but couldn’t.

Yes, I also tried to hack the phone to add flight tracker to it, but I’m not even close to being a hacker.
I’d also add that I’d love to get iTunes on the phone. It seems like the most obvious omission. Buy a track on the phone and when you get home, sync it up to your computer and be able to burn it there.

Apple appears to have sold [Dr. Evil] one million [/DE] iPhones.

VOIP for iPhone.

UK partner for iPhone.

Web-based VOIP? How does that work?

Presumably via wifi.

They still are out at my store.
They best get on the stick. People are fickle, and will lose interest.
Me, for one.

I wasn’t too thrilled with the “2-4 weeks shipping”, either. Nice thing to say, but I didn’t think they really meant it. Looking like the 17th before I get my phone.

What Apple should have done, was allow online orders prior to the launch and then ship those orders starting on launch day. But noooooooo. (I’m not bitter.)

No, what they should have done is sell to all the walk-in customers first, then start shipping the online orders. Online orders are pretty much “bird-in-hand” for them.

Apple is saying most stores are getting new shipments daily! Get there at 9 AM and check availability the night before.

I was there yesterday, but I didn’t really expect any on the 4th, but I did check that availibility last night and there were only red dots (no iPhones) on the lists. I went by today and there were none. If there’s a green dot tonight I’ll be there early tomorrow. If not, I’ll probably order online and have it sent to my job.
