I keep seeing this annoying ad as part of a campaign against alcohol abuse. It features a guy (a model, not a human model, but a model model) who is doing a mild version of the Chris Kattan-Will Ferrell dance routine and he asks a girl for her number.
As far as I can guess, this girl is depicted as being ugly. The ad ends with the message “It’s your choice” as if to say… “hey, if you drink too much, you will end up making bad choices by asking ugly girls for phone numbers”.
Does it bother anyone else that this is used as an incentive by an anti-drinking campaign?
I haven’t seen that one, but it sounds mean spirited. Maybe that’s what “they” think will get through to teenage boys.
I hate all those kind of ads though. Especially the ones where the sitcom stars tell us to have dinner with our families.
They’re just glossy versions of “Refer Madness.”
You would think that after Nancy Reagan’s “Just say no”, and “This is your brain on drugs” campaigns turned into national jokes, the organizations that sponser this stuff would get a clue.
But no, they’ll pull out that “if we can help just one child stay away from drugs, we’ve done good.” Yeah, spend more tax dollars putting a bandage on a problem.
