I always liked Jay Leno’s Tonight Show, so I was glad to see this show. I have to get up too early to watch at 10:30, but 9:00 I can handle fine. I haven’t even seen Leno for about eight years, and I really missed Headlines! Glad to see the show again, and that it hasn’t changed much. I just found out a little while ago that Edd Hall wasn’t part of the show anymore.
When I heard it, his Dad wanted to save power because the digital clock used electricity. It would blink 12:00 when unplugged and his Dad figured the blinking took half the electricity.
It’s weird, but this is how things have progressed from my perspective. I’m 42 and I am old enough to have watched Carson on The Tonight Show. I also remember when Carson had guest hosts when he wasn’t there. I remember when Leno would guest host and I would think “God, he is so great as a host, I hope they keep him as a permanent host.” Then he DID take over as permanent host and got bland. I couldn’t watch him anymore. And being a Letterman fan since the early 80s, I watched his show on CBS. But now they all seem kind of lame to me. After a while, I think they need new blood.
I would watch Jay if he was reading the minutes from c-span. SO I guess I like it. It is weird having it on earlier.
What did y’all think about the guys who “ghosted” other people on the street? My husband and I were about falling out of our chairs laughing! Hilarious!
Hamish and Andy! Hugely popular couple of guys, here in Australia.
I liked that segment too, especially the style points. Robin Williams wasn’t bad either.
So is anyone still watching? Has it improved any?
I have my Tivo set to record it and keep 2 episodes. If I watch on the night it’s on I usually start about 10:30 and skim. I like the racetrack segments, the “Earn your Plug” is funny, and Headlines are always good. I like the show and it is kinda nice that you can watch it and still be in bed by 11:00 or so for us working people.
Has Jay had anything funny to say about David Letterman’s blackmail scandal?
He just made a couple lame jokes about Letterman, but they were very mild, and not really aimed directly at Letterman’s behavior.
I would love for the other late night hosts to really give Letterman the hootsass he has coming, and point out how utterly pathetic of a person that Letterman appears to actually be…
