Kind of like, if you dont have something nice to say, dont say anything, sort.

Restricting off topic comments is going to be hard to come by for me, I imagine for others too. Or is this an isolated situation because of whatever reason?

The boards are very sensitive about misogyny so it is only fair to moderate for misandry.

Personally I think complementing someone on being attractive in a contest that is supposed to be about intelligence isn’t offensive, apparently others do. People can be smart and attractive ( Exhibit A: my wife)

At the risk of going a little off topic …

I stopped recording the show. I enjoyed JH’s run, it was very entertaining. But today as I channel surfed a bit, I watched Jeopardy! Live, not DVR’d.

And the commercials after DJ and before FJ are sooooooooooooooooooooo looooooooooooooooooooong!

I think I am JeoparDONE for a while now. Wake me when another Brad Rutter or Ken Jennings or James Holzhauer show up.

If they do, shouldn’t it really be a new thread? Or else we need a generic “Jeopardy!” thread.

I wished that he had beat Ken’s winnings total. Sorry to see him go, he was nice to look at! She is nice looking too but I like men! Wonder if Jeopardy will like more million dollar winners…if she is that good. I think sometimes the double jeopardy spots are in place when they want them to be.

The reason we are discussing Holzhauer is because of his knowledge and reflexes. He’d still have done well on Jeopardy no matter how he looked (as, for that matter, would Boettcher). So comments like this (directed towards either sex) aren’t really appropriate.

I thought it was fine and contributed to the thread. One of JH’s opponents was an attractive lady and I mentioned that too. JH’s strong performance is the main thrust of this thread, and contestants’ appearances also enhance the topic, if discussed in a polite way.

And yeah, I would have thought a new thread would make more sense, too, but this is what folks seemed to want.

Also, if there is a Tournament of Champions this year (it’s usually around November), I expect him to be there and there will be quite a lot of interest in watching his performance. And Jeopardy! may do a special tournament with him and Ken Jennings (and perhaps Brad Rutter?).

In other words, with players who have seen him play on air, not just in the studio, and may try to emulate his tactics? Will we have to wait for the start of the new season?

I suspect many will try, but few will succeed. I also doubt the average contestant will have the cojones to risk it.
