Bumping this thread since there was some discussion earlier about a possible Democratic Congressional investigation into Kavanaugh’s possible lies about sexual assault: New Democratic House committee chairs: 10 who are about to make Trump’s life hell - Vox
Good, I can’t imagine much that the Dem-controlled House could do that would benefit the Republicans more than continuing to harp on Kavanaugh.
Sure, better they spend their time trying to find out what *really *happened at Benghazi, right?
No need to make a spectacle out of it. Just quietly investigate, call witnesses, and actually try to find out if we have a SCOTUS justice who committed perjury, when it’s clear that he said many things that are, at the very least, reasonably viewed as questionable. That’s actually a pretty reasonable thing to do.
You think they want to do this “quietly”?
Projection.
Yes, they should handle it with all the propriety and decorum that Newt G. and the Self-Righteous Bros. handled the President getting a consensual BJ from an adult intern. :dubious:
In that case I’m quite dubious about the reach of your imagination.
House Democrats says that it’s likely Kavanaugh will be investigated for perjury. As he should be.
Awesome. He clearly and obviously lied about a wide array of topics, and not just about shit he did in high in school either.
If it is so obvious, they don’t need investigation - they would be able to impeach based on the evidence to date. If they have to investigate to find something else, then it must not be so obvious.
Hope springs eternal, I know, but “this time we’ve got him” is rather different from “let’s see if we can find something to get him”.

PS - unless the whole purpose is grandstanding by some freshman Democrat.
I’m just going to leave that little bon mot there.
:smack:
Some Dems have impeachment fever.
Don’t you fret, pet: Lindsey Graham re-opening the Clinton email circus! Happy days are here again!!!
Perhaps the House needs to investigate if certain freshman Democrats can pour piss out of a boot with the instructions written on the heel.
Inquiring minds want to know.

We have an investigation into a crime even when it is obvious that a crime was committed and who the perpetrator was. That’s how things work in this country and, as far as know, no one, not even you, thinks we should change that.
We already had an investigation - more than one, as a matter of fact. You apparently believe that there is clear and obvious evidence that Kavanaugh committed the crime of perjury. Why do you want more investigations?
“I found the guy standing over the corpse with the gun in his hand. Two witnesses saw him shoot the guy. Should I arrest him?”
“No - we need to start all over from the beginning.”
Not sure I agree 100% with your detective work there, Lou.

Cite for an investigation into possible perjury by Kavanaugh?
False.
However, if you’d like to make the case that Kavanaugh should be removed from the bench without investigating the depth and breadth of his crimes, I’m willing to listen. I’m guessing that this is not actually what you want.
