Heh heh - you’d think he would have appreciated a line that he (probably) hadn’t heard before.
Mine from earlier this year - I was discussing books with a co-worker who wasn’t a big reader, and she was talking about a book she was reading - “The Girl Who Whatevered.” She was proud of how large the book was, and my response was, “I love big books, and I cannot lie.” She didn’t get it. 
The sci-fi model group was taking a break and we’d gone to the local fish-and-chips place for dinner. My friend looks at me, grins, and says, “I like to come here just for the halibut.”
My brain whirs like a finely-tuned machine, working at Mach 7. Faster than I’ve ever come up with anything in my whole life, I say, “Is that your sole reason for coming?”
…yes, yes, lame, I know, but I was so fast!
