The Lake Delton and Mirror Lake dam went out (June 2008)

Be safe, all of you! Eeek!

Radar maps show the line of thunderstorms all the way back to Oklahoma.

And their current movement suggests they’ll all pass over southern & central Wisconsin for the next 8 hours.

This is getting really old.

And a new day has dawned. The sun is out, though it is still quite cloudy. As far as I know we had a quiet night and it is predicted we will have a fairly quiet weekend with scattered thundershowers.

Let’s hope this is a trend.

Still hoping to hear from Harmonioius Discord.

Made it through the rain unscathed. Bro and I had plans for dinner and a movie. The movie theatre closed up shop and the restaurant we wanted to go to was blocked by standing water so we ended up with pizza and a video.

Are you affected by the Interstate closing at Portage or the accident on 151, or wherever it was? Coming in on 12 & 18 from the east, traffic was majorly screwed up at the overpass and the exit to 151.

Yesterday I started to say I hoped he’d brought his waders, but I thought that was in bad taste.

He ought to remember this visit!

Add 1.5 inches after the rain gauge overflowed last night.

The water is way over the highest it’s been in the last 40 years at the house. Two other times it’s been high, but nothing like now. The old pictures are not even close to now. No pictures now. I’m taking a rest break or I wouldn’t be on the board. It’s very bad at the house. We sandbagged around the basement door and got a gas 2 inch pump from the the farmer that lost his three farms of potatoes. There was one convoluted route to get from one end of the city to the other last night. The few bridges still open on the fox are just hanging on. The highway is almost completely covered for the lane on our side. Almost every highway is closed down. The interstate opened to one lane traffic today. They had a boom truck at the bridge to help protect the utilities by the bridge. So far we’ve had carp, gar and blue gills in the yard. We won’t stay tonight either. The only place I can post from is home so long as we keep the waters down enough in the basements. The water hasn’t been close to the floor joists, but the fiberglass insulation is dripping water from the humidity. Lots of shit ruined.

Oh maaan… :frowning:

Harmonious Discord, I’m so sorry to hear that your things are getting ruined! Am very glad you are staying safe though. You seem to be pretty level-headed, which is a good thing. Please don’t feel you have to post for us; if it gets that bad, just go. We’ll continue to pray and meditate and send good vibes your way, each in our own fashion.

This. Also, you’ve seen the fish in your yard or you’ve been fishing your yard? If it’s the latter I nominate you to the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame.

Mother saw a 12 inch bass tonight when I was inside. I have to tend the pump in and hour. I would really like to sleep for longer than 2 hour naps. I haven’t slept more than 4 hours at a time for many days, because I woke up a little and couldn’t sleep until I checked everything. My brain is getting muddy. I strung up the patio lighting this evening to light the area I need to see better. The water is down an inch from the high today. I wouldn’t be here tonight if the night hadn’t been clear of storms. The front door no long can be opened or it won’t be closing again. That’s it for the update, because I can’t think anymore. i CAN’T EVEN ESTIMATE THE NUMBER OF GAWKING PHOTOGRAPHERS WE HAD TODAY. Caps lock swas on opps I’m done correcting. Bye

They closed I-90/94 from Madison north today. Apparently there’s a bridge out.

Everything here is soggy, but we’re OK in Madison still.

HD, I’m sorry to hear about your stuff being ruined, but I’m glad you’re OK.

We had a clear, beautiful day today. Let’s hope that continues so we can start drying out here.

A couple of our clients are in desperate financial situations because of the flooding. They’re tourist places, and they’re under water.

Stay in touch, everyone, let us know how you’re doing.

The water is back up the inch it went down at night. I have to estimate that the water is 4 feet above the height it was before that first rain two Thursdays back. It didn’t flood the first storm and it was Saturday when it started flooding. I’ve been dealing with rising flood since for a week. I can hardly move this morning the swelling I can get is not good this morning. The water is freaking ice cold except in the areas that it’s surrounded and the slow current can’t exchange it. I’m really sick of ants biting me every day when they get out of the water, by hitching a ride on me.

The NWS predicts that the Fox River 2 miles north of New Munster will rise another 2 inches to crest at 15 ft by Sunday morning 7 am CDT. After that it is predicted to fall below major flood stage (14 feet) by about noon on Tuesday. At that point it will be at the same level it was last Monday, 6/9 at 7 pm CDT.

Hang in there.

Their coming around and telling people the Pardeeville dam is likely to go today. Strongly recommend everyone evacuate. I’m so frick’n tired. Probably can’t get anywhere because nobody is staying off the roads like they were requested. This may be the last update for some time. So much for the slow cooker roast. I’me so sick of snack foods and Culvers. I guess it’s a good thing I didn’t start washing any of my dirty clothes, which is most of them. I have to repack now, because I had to use much of what I had in duffles. Mother used the truck yesterday and the rear brake line sprang a leak, so the truck isn’t around to use. I have to wait for her to get back from the hair salon, to pack a few things in the car with miserable clearance. God I’m tired.

I sincerely wish there was something we could do to help you, but I can’t for the life of me figure out what it would be. Please throw us a line if there is.

I feel extra bad because here in the Madison area, and 15 or so miles southeast where I am, we are relatively speaking unscathed, aside from the farmers. All I will reap from this is a lush lawn. It is an absolutely gorgeous day today.

I said upthread how my dad has had his first flooding in all of his 75 years of farming. Last night he told me he has about ten acres under water, out of approximately 500. So he has also fared quite well compared to people north of here, including - especially - Harmonious Discord.

What Rascal’s Mom said. Let us know if there’s anything we can do to help you man. Get some rest and remember that this too shall pass.

Up to start the pump. Still here. Going back to sleep. The pardeeville dam damage was stabilized late yesterday, and we had no storms, so we only had a little rise in the water. Bye.

I have some pictures from this morning from our house. Six Pics There are more, but at this time I’m not going to post them for everybody to see. I get to go grocery shopping this morning Yeh! I’m getting really banged up, and not all in the flood waters. The latest was last night ripping off half a small toe toenail with the screen door. Last night I kind of got some sleep. I started the pump and left mom to shut it off after it caught up. I still would like a lot more sleep. I’ve been dealing with the flooding for over a week now. The water just goes up and up. luckily the 4 days rain of earlier predictions hasn’t occur. Were just saving the house from major damage, and I hope we can manage to keep the flood from filling the basement. Yesterday a 45 foot section of hwy 33 just over the Wisconsin river bridge by about a half mile washed out. I don’t know details if it went across or half the road fell away. I don’t know what any of you can do, so thanks anyway for the good thoughts.

Thanks for the update. We’re all thinking of you. How are you going to get to the store? How far away is it?

Hang in there and stay safe.
