The last "man-in-a-monster-suit" Godzilla movie?

Which Godzilla movie was the last one to feature a man in a monster suit as the star?

The man most known for being the guy in the Godzilla suit was Haruo Nakajima, and his last time in the role was * Godzilla vs. Gigan*(1972), so there is a good starting place.

IMDB has an entry for “Godzilla Suit Actors”
Godzilla Suit Actors - IMDb

It might have been 1994’s Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla

Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack (2001)

According to kaijubattle.net the last Godzilla with a man in a suit was Godzilla Final Wars (2004)

Shin Godzilla, released in 2016 was played by a guy in a partial Godzilla suit that was motion captured and then added as CGI to the movie.

Before those there was the forgettable 1998 American CGI movie.

On Edit: Just managed to Ninja @engineer_comp_geek

There is a list of all of the Godzilla movies here:

There is also a section breaking down the movies into several different major eras. From the descriptions, it looks like the Japanese have been continuing to make man-in-a-suit Godzilla movies even after Hollywood started making CGI versions. The wikipedia page for Godzilla: Final Wars talks about using practical effects instead of CGI so that puts it out to at least 2004.

Curse you, Ninja!

What was the last “man in suit Kaiju” movie then?

Cool! Thanks for the information.

What about Pee-wee’s Big Adventure?

Three generations of Godzilla actors walking together.

Not Godzilla himself, but this is a kinda cute and neat video in Japanese about Baragon and the suit actress. Not only is there some behind the scenes and shots of them filming, but the actress will roar and that is (IMO) super cute.

Need a LIKE button.

That was a fun vid. Thanks.

I’m guessing this doesnt count -

Oh, I have seen that! Hilarious! I was really hoping that the show “Stan Against Evil” would last longer than it did. Very funny in an “off-beat” kind of way…

There is just something about the setup here that you absolutely have to love.

Also, couldn’t this be the setup (or the punchline) to a joke? Three Godzilla’s walk into Tokyo; Tokyo falls over.

Three Godzillas walk into Tokyo.
The mayor looks up from polishing his glasses and says “What is this, some kind of bad movie?”

It’s weak, but it’s my first attempt. I’m sure somebody will be along soon with an actually good three Godzillas joke.

Three Godzillas walk into a bar.
Bartender: " Hey! We don’t serve their kind here !"
Godzilla: “What?”
Bartender: "Your droid . He 'll have to wait outside.
Godzilla: “Seriously? You’ll serve my infant son, Minya, but you won’t serve Mechagodzilla?”
Bartender: "He is rather big for his age.
