Dave Foley is straight. He has a wife and family. He’s just about the only one from “The Kids in the Hall” that was, though.
I only caught a couple of episodes(thank God) of Caroline In The City, but when Caroline and Richard were flirting I thought “this is part of the joke, right? I mean no one thinks he’s straight or even bi, do they?”
Oh, and for the number one bad influence that almost swayed me in that direction:
Batman and Robin
Mister Whipple.
Though he was DEEPLY closeted.
Can’t you picture him leering at the stockboys?
Uke
I thought Scott Thompson was the only gay Kid in the Hall. And he is very definitely gay.
Scott Thompson is the only gay Kid in the Hall, but they all looked good in drag.
Some drink at the fountain of knowledge…others just gargle.
I know about the Jennifer Love Hewitt thing and the Christian thing but I still find it hard to believe that Carson Daly (sp?) isn’t gayer than a treeful of monkeys on nitrous oxide*.
*(With thanks to Pratchett and Gaiman)
Oh and Nathan Lane? Come on, that guy’s gay. So’s Rupert Everett, while I’m at it. I hate to bust anyone’s bubble.
Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.
Matt Damon and Ben Affleck?
I think I have my fantasy for the week.
John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt. That’s my name too.
Wait, no it isn’t.
I don’t know how true this is, but I heard that Dave Foley and Kevin McDonald were the only two straight Kids in the Hall. Not that it matters, since they were funny as hell.
And Will (Will & Grace) is played by a straight guy.
But, I agree with Marxxx–I was watching Stark Raving Mad (please don’t judge me for that) and he can’t be straight. [idea] He should be Jack’s love interest on Will and Grace!! [/idea]
I should be a casting director!
And that’s just my opinion. I could be wrong.
Ed Asner???
I don’t count Fraiser and Niles as those characters are supposed to be played effeminate.
But that guy Berg on Two Guys and a Girl is just way too fem.
I agree with Laura about Richard on Caroline…I just wanted to shake Caroline and say,“Can’t you see he’s gay?”
Ned Flanders seems kind of effeminate to me.

It’s pretty much explicit now, but Smithers on The Simpsons had lots of ‘clues’ early in the series that he was gay, though it wasn’t explicit at first.
And, more and more, it seems clear that Matt Groening, the Simpons’ creator, is gay (which is why there are so many gay jokes – with about half of them going over the heads of the hetero crowd).
The actor who plays Niles from Frasier is out, so kudos to all you whose gaydar caught that one. The actor who plays Frasier is straight AFAIK.
Charles Nelson Reilly, Paul Lynde, and Rip Taylor never fooled anyone who wasn’t deaf and blind.
Rock Hudson fooled just about everyone. And there are a lot more out there who are fooling mostly everyone than there are the ‘obvious’ ones.
Peace.
It wasn’t until yesterday that I realized Graham Chapman from Monty Python was gay. He and his lover stayed together for close to 30 years, even adopted a kid, before he died of cancer in '89.

Without a doubt in my mind, the Hackett Brothers from Wings and Mork From Ork.
None of them fooled me for a minute.
And Potsie, too.

A reporter asked Lane if he was gay and Lane answered “I’m a lifelong bachelor who loves Broadway show tunes and cooking. You do the math.”
As for Matt Groening, huh? I’m not saying he is or isn’t gay, but is there any more evidence of his being gay than the fact that he has some gay characters in his comic strip? After all, he was married, has two children, and created a number of straight characters as well.
Rob Sitch.
Only, he’s Australian so nobody here will know who I mean.

Rupert Everett is openly gay, isn’t he?
“When I do right, no one ever remembers. When I do wrong, no one ever forgets.”
Sorry, Markxxx. Ed Asner was meant to be humorous since SqrlCub has an admitted lust for him. It is a pretty silly post in retrospect.

What about the episode where Scott Thompson says, “Hi. I’m Scott Thompson. Yeah, that’s right: the fag.” Seems to imply he’s the only one. But who knows. I liked Scott’s flamingly gay monologist character “Buddy”. IIRC, he compared the offense he felt being confused for an American like being confused for a straight guy. Very funny.
The point is, all Canadians are gay. I think.
What’s the official word on John Waters?
