John Waters came out several years ago, not that there was much doubt before that…

hey, moriah
how do you know that Matt Groening is gay?
the jokes dont neccessarily mean anything
i dont even think he does much on the show any morebesides advising…

Not only is Nathan Lane gay , but his significant other, ( Ernie Sabella) played the naked fat guy on the subway on Seinfeld, but he and Ernie did the voices for Timon and Pumba in the Lion King
You want brilliance BEFORE I’ve had my coffee!!!
Even better did you catch The Simpsons episode where John Waters played the gay friend John? One of the gags was him getting caught by Waylon after cancelling a date to hang out with the family.
One of Waters trademarks is to cast against type, mostly gays as straight and vice versa. If you haven’t seen a J.W. movie start in the shallow end of the pool with Cry Baby or Hairspray. Slowly work your way to Pink Flamongoes.
I was personally crushed when my mom told me about Jodie Foster. I almost drove us into a bridge abutment.
It’s your fault that I have no one to blame but myself.
Pokemon - James is the blue haired one on Team Rocket. I saw an episode where his estranged billionaire parents tried to force him into a marriage of convenience with another billionaire’s daughter. Not surprisingly, James resisted - vehemently!!!
Since the OP was not who is gay but who can’t play straight, even if she/he is straight I thought Ed Asner was funny. I mean he doesn’t seem at all gay…But you never know eh?
I never knew John Waters was gay til I read a recent interview. I just thought he was weird(which is good!).I still love him.
Heres a xmas present for Squrlcub:
Ed Asner and Santa are coming to see you tonight!
But, see, I know that Natan Lane and Rupert Everett are gay. And so does everyone else. You see, I tried to pick several gentlemen who are openly…
Oh, forget it. It wasn’t very funny anyway.
I always thought that John Ritter’s character, Jack Tripper, on “Three’s Company” seemed gay even though he was supposed to be a straight guy pretending he was gay. What I mean is, when “Jack” wasn’t pretending to be gay, he still seemed kind of gay anyway. Ahh, dammit–you know what i mean…
Also Mr. Mackey on South Park doesn’t seem 100% hetero, either. (Duh!)
You should read Matt Groening’s non-Simpsons strips. Lots of gay gags, especially with those two look-alike guys in fezzes (Jeff and Ahab??) who “may be brothers or lovers or both.”
And though MG only has an advising role in the Simpsons now, cutting edge gay humor (at least by pop TV standards) was in the series from the start. And would a straight MG be saying, “Hey, really like the huge amount of gay jokes, keep adding more!”
Yeah, it’s circumstantial, but so was all the evidence for Liberace until the palimony suit came out.
Peace.
“Not that there’s anything wrong with it.”
Speaking of John Waters, I heard a rumor a few years ago that he has AIDS. Does anyone know if this is true?
Sorry stoli, didn’t intend to step on your joke but it reminded me of Lane’s quote which I thought was funny enough to post.
As for Matt Groening’s orientation, I think it would take a lot more evidence than three of his characters being gay. After all, using the same logic you could claim he’s a closet rabbit. Incidentally, the two brothers/lovers/whatever from Life in Hell are Akbar and Jeff.
Cabbage,no! I doubt it. I hope not!
ummm… Padeye… what ABOUT Jodie Foster?? please dont say it… please dont say it… it just cant be true
Well, B Line, I hate to have to break this to you, but the rumors that Jodie Foster is a lesbian have been out there for years. As far as I know, she has always refused to answer any questions about her sexual orientation. On the one hand, there was a number of rumors that she had an affair with Kelly McGillis during the filming of The Accused. On the other hand, her brother wrote a tell-all biography in which IIRC he says Jodie is straight but other members of their family are gay, which is why she won’t discuss the subject. I doubt anyone on the board is likely to know the truth of the matter.
Sorry to upset you B_line12. I got that second hand from my mom but she got it from my brother. He lives in San Francisco, is a musician and hair color specialist… However you do the math I trust him for the SD on that topic.
I actually wasn’t that upset though. I saw her Nell and found she was much too skinny for my taste.
Lesbian or not, I still love Jodie Foster…like I had a chance with her anyway?
I’ve often wondered about Matt Groening, too. I thought he had a wife and kids (not that w&k are guarantees)…but his gay humor is just so damn good. And Akbar & Jeff are quite believable and endearing characters. Maybe Matt’s just clever and has lots of gay friends. Well, we already know he’s clever…

Peter Jennings ?
Peter Falk?
