The Left-Handed

I have no clue how he uses a rightie mouse.
Probably because that’s what he was taught to use, the same as I was. My Comp Lit teacher in jr. high had NO idea how to deal with lefties and leftie mouse problems so I just adapted and learned to use a mouse like a rightie.
IDBB

I strated using computers before they had mice, when the first mouse enabled computer (Mac) arrived at work the engineer set it up with the mouse on the right (just like the picture in the book  ) I never even thought to move it to the other side.

If my brother was at home, it’d at least be 50/50. I guess I should just submit to lefty domination, huh?

Or maybe not! Brandishes cheap rightie scissors and taunts random lefties with them

And here. Perhaps we could get some sort of government funding…

Left-handers are few in our family. My older brother made complaints at the school where his first child attended in Arizona because the kid is left-handed and the school was trying to suppress the use of the kid’s left hand. (At the L. A. County Office of Education or www.lacoe.edu there are so many left-handers, including administrators, I am sure left-handedness is not suppressed in CA.
You probably know about these lefthanders:
Brad Garrett
Missy Gold
Kermit the Frog, so left-handed he even plays the banjo that way. Shades of Jimi Hendrix!

It was tough growing up as the only leftie in my family and usually in my class!
I couldn’t use the scissors as a small kid unless I really concentrated on how I was holding it. Now I can but I thought it was mainly because all “tools” are now mostly made ambidextrous…? So I think.
Can’t use the mouse as a lefty, keep screwing up my clicks !
I also write like a righty, I never twisted my arm around. I think I just learned that way to look like “everybody else”.
I believe lefties are more intelligent! Yes, I do…

Shhhhhhhhhhh!

Do you have to give away all of our plans?

Jeez!

Always remember people:

When left hands are outlawed only outlaws will be left handed.

Another Lefty here…and I am very creative, and tend to think rather oddly, according to others.
I only do a few things with my left hand tho…writing, and shooting pool, usually eating, and, I smoke with my left hand.
However, my dominant hand (strongest) is my right hand…tho I can hammer with either hand, I am more accurate and better right handed. Anything I was taught to do, I do right handed (throwing a ball, batting, bowling,10-key adding machine) I am NOT ambidextirious (sp?)
Just wierd…

Random I may be, but I can use scissors. I don’t know what all these others are moaning about.

Regarding mice, in my view it’s the right-handers who’ve got it wrong. Use of the mouse requires so little dexterity compared to the keyboard that you’re better off using your ‘wrong’ hand on it, and your best hand on the keyboard. And reversing the buttons is just odd.

Another left hander checking in. I think the scissors problem is not only awkward, but it actually hurts after a while because of the curvature of the loops in the handles (in the non-elelmentary school, grown up scissors anyway.)

Christmas present wrapping is a real bugger!

I use my mouse with my right hand, ‘just like everybody else’ - BUT this allows me to use the mouse AND write at the same time. This is really handy sometimes. Yes, pun intended.
And it also throws the righties off my trail in my part to help the lefties take over the world.

You can get left-handed nibs. I used them for some time and they improved my writing no end. But it’s still cr*p. I just type everything these days.

FWIW I’m left-handed but mildly ambi-dexterous.

My mother has always had problems with scissors. She has one good pair that as a child, I was not allowed to touch. Even now I don’t want to mess with them, because they’re her special pair.

I’ve tried left-handed mousing, on her computer. I couldn’t do anything. But I’m extremely right-handed. Typing is not a problem, but I can’t really do much of anything requiring fine coordination with my left hand.

Chef Troy thanks for clearing that up for me! I honestly did not know how there was a problem.

The computer mouse is usually okay but some of those ergonomic right-handed mice can drive you bananas when you’re tryna use them with your left hand.

ladydisco… I forgot about the mouse thing,… that IS convenient  and shhhh… stop telling people about “The Plan”

Hi CuriousC! (*returns your wave from here *)
Don’t worry, I’ll keep the Ottawa Chapter of the The Planners the down low.

I guess lefties are ok, but I’m not sure that they’re born that way like all those liberals will have you believe. It seems like a cover for the fact that these people want to be noticed, then feel bad when they get negative attention too. “Oh wait, I didn’t choose to be left-handed, I was born that way.” Yeah, right. And what’s up with them wanting special treatment? They make things to be used with the right hand because that’s the hand God wants people to use, it’s in the bible, you know. Buy your own damn left-handed desk, I don’t want to spend my tax money supporting deviants when the education system is so underfunded for important things as it is. But you know, as long as they aren’t overtly left-handed, I guess they’re ok by me. I’m not sure I’d go so far as approving of them marrying or adopting children, though.

elf, do you want to make your reservation now, for a spot along the wall when the revolution comes?
