The LHC Will NOT Destroy The Universe...

…because they’ve got Torchwood there to help out!!
Seriously, I’m geeked for some new TW, as the bits of my weekend that weren’t spent on the Dope were spent glued to Series 2 of TW. (Yes, yes, I’m perfectly aware that it’s not as good as Doctor Who. No, no, nothing even comes close. It’s still a damn good show, and I’m thouroughly addicted!)

In other news, evidently TW is on hiatus for 2009, along with its counterpart. I know I read it early this morning, but by the time the Board became postable-to again, I can’t seem to fnd it. It seems that in the spring, there will be five episodes of TW, played out in an arc over the space of one week. Yep, you read that right; one week only for 2009’s series. :dubious:

Ah, well. I’ll be riveted anyway. Such is the nature of my addiction!

Questions about possible global destruction? Here’s all your answers! In awesome rap form!

Sorry to burst your hadrons, folks, but I don’t need any convincing about the LHC. I was referencing an episode of the Doctor Who spinoff Torchwood, which is basing next week’s radio episode about the LHC experiments. I couldn’t care less if a black hole eats us all; I’ll die happy feeding my craving for the Whoniverse. :stuck_out_tongue:

Don’t worry freek… soon ALL our hadrons will burst.

Or something.

Don’t panic. K9 can manipulate the hyperspace gateways to stabilize any inadvertent Black Holes created.

Si

Wrong mythology. :stuck_out_tongue:

Just barely. Adams wrote for Doctor Who in the 70s and #10 remarked on what a nice chap Arthur Dent was.

There’s a TW radio show? BBC7?

I’ve been watching Sarah Jane lately. Reminds me of the old shows, and not just because SJS was one of “my” companions.

Eh, the universe is highly over-rated. No skin off my nose either way.

There really isn’t a TW radio show; it’s just a one-off to coincide with the LHC’s first run. I did see a YouTube clip awhile back where John Barrowman toured CERN; evidently he’s a big fan of particle physics - who knew? (unintentional pun!)

I saw two eps of SJ, but then my Tivo malfunctioned and deleted them all. Have been awaiting the chance to watch them, as they look pretty good.

We have quite a few of the Old Who eps, but haven’t watched them yet as there is a strict rule in our house that Thou Shalt Not Watch Who Without Everyone Present!!

I bet he just mis-read Large Hadron (like everyone else) and wanted to get a collision.

I am also sure that he is partial to physiques, rather than particle physics.

Actually, I really like John Barrowman as a presenter. I mean, he does camp, he does very naughty, but he can be straight to camera and serious as well. I’ll watch just about anything with him in.

Si

I actually LOL’d at this. :stuck_out_tongue:

Now that I’m all caught up on NuWho and TW, I’m going through the audiobooks, and also branching out and learning more about the various cast members. Gareth David-Lloyd has a decent stoner-rock band called Blues Gillespie that I’m digging. John Barrowman actually has a few cds out right now, covers of easy pop songs. Lemme just say: John has a great voice, but hearing him cover Celine Dio’s “All By Myself” is the most unintentionally hilarious thing I’ve ever heard! I just keep envisioning him as Capt. Jack, pining after the Doctor when he gets left behind yet again. Aha, here it is. Warning:sound!
