My visitors loved the Naval Museum. Maybe things have changed since then, it’s been a while, but back then you could get a “pack” ticket including the naval museum, submarine Becuna and cruiser Olympia on the Philly side, as well as the aquarium and a battleship on the NJ side. I don’t know who enjoyed the visit to the battleship more, my brother (who was jumping up and down at times) or the veteran who showed it to us.
Another liked going to the Art Museum best but… because “these are the stairs in Rocky! I’M ON THE STAIRS IN ROCKY!” Each to his own I’ll admit I agree with him in that the curator of the Impressionists exhibit which was on should have been hung by the ankles and left to dry, some of the biggest pictures couldn’t be looked at from distances greater than a couple of yards (yes, yes, we get to see the individual strokes - but most people care more about seeing the actual picture they form).
I can’t believe nobody’s suggested the Mutter museum yet.
I spent several days in Philadelphia a few years ago, and the Mutter Museum was hands down really freaking cool.
Second coolest was the Italian street market early in the morning.
It was. I felt I had to do it because..well..it’s the Liberty Bell! I didn’t spend much time there, but I’m glad I saw it.
I like to actually experience well known pieces of history when I can, because it comes in handy in conversation sometimes. There are so many myths out there that can be confusing if you don’t see things for yourself.
