The Linking Limerick Game

My :o now is thoroughly red
To have :eek:ed in my very own thread!
So give me a :smack:
But you know I’ll be back
Or my name ain’t EdTeddyFred.

We hang by a thread, you might say
But reveal not our threadless dismay!
For a thread on this board
Vigors heads what are bored
Now I’m verbing my nouns. I WILL PAY!

Usually limericks are quite crass or quite crude,
With sexual themes that are usually rude.
I thought I’d be bored,
But this has struck a chord.
And so far in this thread, it’d please even a prude.

If this game were proposed for the Pit,
Crass and crude would be names that would fit.
But this forum is tamer;
Quite safe for each gamer
And clean, unless joined by a twit.

I certainly agree with the words that you wrote
That the forum description is a good antidote.
Cuz if I were a twit
I’d use the word ‘clit’.
But instead I’ll say ‘the little man in the boat.’

Instead of a limerick rude,
We compose some with more attitude.
They can still be quite funny
(but bring no fame or money)
Instead of hard rock…an etude.

Procrastination, at heart.
My attitude here to impart:
Though try as I might,
I have not the foresight
To finish whatever I

I don’t wish to be seen as a Nazi
Or Eddy T. Freddy’s young patsy.
But you ought have the courage
To finish with a flourish
Our rhymes should be ending like that. See?

A flourish at end of a line,
I grant would indeed be quite fine.
But my typical fate:
I get somewhat irate,
'Cause I get very close, then resign.

pierre, though your rhyming is dicey
And your meter is nothing LIKE spicy
Your finish had flair;
Almost sleek - debonaire!
And that’s just the stuff that I like. See?

<AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!>

the preview button is my friend
'ere posting, I should use it thus.
This little couplet’s just to say:
“my foul-ups are conspicuous!”

</ah…!>

You debonaire thing, Hamadryad!
You come up with rhymes I wish I had.
Oh, no! What to find
For the rhyming last line?
Let’s see… oh, no, wait… Stumping MY head!

You and me both!
My posting is toast. :frowning:

Oh, well – who’s up next?
Grab the word; don’t be hexed! :wink:

Hamad, I admire your mettle
Critique me? That’s grasping the nettle.
Well if I may dare
Be somewhat debonaire *
It’s a case of Pot calling the Kettle.

*(see what I did there?)

:smiley:

Knackers. Erm go back a couple. Then it’s relevant. Preview is my friend, y’say?

Applause for pierre72!!!
Just look at the things he can do!
Not just grasp the nettle
But grasp in fine fettle.
His rhyming is great! Now, adieu.

The limerick words to entwine,
It irritates me to define,
syllables bound
and my rhyme runs aground,
'Cause I just can’t seem to get a grasp at the moment on coming up with a means of finishing this thought in one line.

His ship’s run aground; what a pity!
In sight of the lights of the city.
He rambles along
The shoreline, in song;
And seeks an end rhyme that is witty.

Our witty vocabulary,
Has been brought up abstemiously.
the sun, earth and moon
in straight line are strewn
here’s your term: celestial syzygy.

'Neath the light of the Moon-Earth-Sun syzygy
Clad in naught but a pearl-studded frizzy G
String danced the lassy
With looks pert and sassy;
Made the onlookers gasp and go dizzy – gee!
