Yes. As indicated in the linked thread, my national campaign to crush your precious forums is gearing up and will hit the road April 1st. Our goal is to travel all 50 states, finding people who use MPSIMS and shooting them in the face. At the end I will commit suicide, not being able to live with myself having used the atrocious forum. I don’t know why I have to explain this to you, it’s all there in the linked thread, man :rolleyes:.

If CarnalK and Cisco don’t like flirt threads, I have a solution for them: Don’t read them! Why shouldn’t other people be allowed to have fun, just because you don’t wish to participate?
Hey Cisco, I’ll jump on that bandwagon- despite the protruding arrows. I’ll think on it, refine my suggestion and bump your thread with it. 
I really hate arguments like this. Should Cisco just not post anything until the forums magically change to match his views? Working the system as it is, that’s the world stpauler.
He’s complaining about the banality of the forums while spewing his banality. If he doesn’t like MPSIMS, he’s welcome to stay the hell out of it. He doesn’t have to “work the system”, he can ignore it. It’s not pervasive, it’s not a gateway he has to pass through to get to the other forums either.
There’s a difference between disagreeing rationally and civilly (as iampunha and I did in that thread) and jumping on the bandwagon to attack a strawman (the strawman being that I want your sacred forums closed NOW!), as silenus did. Of course, with your obvious lack of reading comprehension skills, I don’t expect you to see that difference.
Well, if his reforms remove banality, you’ll be done with him. Isn’t that worth your precious MPSIMS?
There are a lot of free options(LJ,ezboard,etc) out there that weren’t around when the SDMB started. I think we should take advantage of them and push the social scene of the boards back a little.

I’ve got a total of 83 posts in MPSIMS out of my 2000+. I’m not in there that often to care about it, but others do.
Great, and you’re welcome to that opinion too. However, it’s obvious that there are a large number of posts in MPSIMS that would indicate an interest in keeping that forum alive.
Although I agree with whoever said that this should be unnecessary, I’ll be visiting sometime over the weekend.

Of course. I hope the staff agrees that despite it’s popularity it should be pushed away. They already gives recommendations to “take it to email” or “leave it on LJ”, they should do that more. If the Chicago Reader wants to make a higher quality product and distinguish this MB from the other forums on the net, it’s the way to go.

Well, I’m single. (Happily single, but still…)
And I appreciate “flirt theads” and threads that turn into “flirt threads.” None of which seem to have gotten closed. I like that people meet each other and connect and fall in love and so forth. Some of my best friends fell in love after they met on this board. So hurray for that!
However, I do see a difference between a “flirt thread” and a personals ad thread. One is a “how YOU doing” thread and the other is a personals ad.
They don’t allow any other kind of ads here, why should they allow personal ads?
