I was watched a bit of this movie this morning at the Y. The subject of where the beach landing was filmed came up. Anyone know?
Looks like the whole movie was shot in France. It could have been the actual beach portrayed.
Haven’t seen the film though.

The Marine Corps were persuaded to do it as an amphibious landing exercise in Corsica. That’s why, if you go to Normandy looking for this enormous concrete sea wall that Eddy Albert et al. expired attacking, you won’t find one.
Most of the scenes were shot twice, once in English for the U.S. market, and again in the characters’ proper languages for the European market.
In the Keifer commando attack on the port, there’s an aerial tracking shot that lasts about a minute, and it’s all done in one take.
