Indeed
Reports are that Ben will play but Brown probably will not. Additionally, Burfict will be suspended for the first three games next year. But what does he care? He got his pound of flesh and probably finished Pittsburgh this year, which is what that psycho wanted anyway.
In what world is Burfict’s hit worse than what Shazier did to Bernard? One is shoulder to helmet (Burfict), the other is helmet to helmet, using the crown of the helmet to hit the player under the chin! It’s like we’re not watching the same game!
I’d rather Burfict be dragged into the parking lot and shot, but this’ll have to do.
The problem is that Burfict hasn’t been suspended before - just fined. I expect that an appeal will take the suspension down to one game, because that’s the usual next step in the discipline process.
NM
- Burfict has a well-earned reputation.
- There is no evidence that Shazier was actually trying to hurt Bernard, illegal hit or not.
- There is ample evidence that Burfict was trying to hurt Brown, as this is the third game this year he’s tried to take out a Steeler, succeeding three times in two of those games.
- The nature of Burfict’s hit is such that he could have actually killed Brown, and he did it anyway with full intent.
The difference between the two is enormous. Now, if Shazier continues to hit people like that we can reevaluate in light of those hits, but for now he doesn’t deserve to be lumped in with Burfict, who has been a known lunatic since college and clearly lost his mind on Saturday.
Now wait a minute. This sounds like some seriously mealy-mouthed bullshit. It doesn’t matter if a player has a “reputation” or not, an illegal hit is an illegal hit.
It matters not what Shazier’s intentions were. He planted the crown of his helmet directly into Bernard’s facemask. This is indisputable. Burfict did not do this to Brown (who’s fine by the way, no concussion and will play against Denver. Weird, huh?)
Where is this ample evidence you speak of that he was trying to hurt Brown? By my eyes he laid up on the hit and didn’t crush him as hard as he could have. Watch the video I posted (ignore the brutal misspellings). If it’s a “bang bang” play for Shazier, why is it not for Burfict? These things happen really fast.
“Trying to take out a Steeler”? Really? I guess you’re one of those people that believe there was some nefarious bullshit behind Burfict’s legal tackle on Leveon Bell that unfortunately ended his season. Or the hit on Ben that knocked him out of the game. Both legal, textbook tackles with no flags or helmet to helmet contact.
Let’s not try to act like if the shoe hadn’t been on the other foot that you weren’t amped about Shazier knocking out Bernard and forcing a fumble.
And “killed Brown”? Are you serious with this shit? Is this some bizarre side effect of being used to Ben’s overly dramatic proclamations of his overstated injuries whereby limping back on the field appears more heroic than it is? WTF?
Further, it’s coming out now that Brown faked his injury, Porter came out on the field illegally not for the purpose of checking on Brown like he stated (he’s a defensive coach!) but to incite the Bengals players by exchanging verbal salvos with them (real professional, like pulling hair, right?). He succeeded in his mission, although upon review that last penalty against Adam Jones looks more and more suspect in light of all that.
Oh, and the Steelers gave Porter a game ball for his actions. Seem legit coming from the coach that got fined for intentionally tripping a player from the sideline.
And WE’RE the thugs? Give me a break. This is the Steelers getting a taste of their own medicine and calling foul because they don’t like it when others do unto them as they have been doing since time immemorial. You root for a dirty team, you call it “Good Stiller Futbawl” when you do it and cry when somebody else skirts the margins of the rules.
Good on you, I guess.
Brown is probably going to miss the next game. He fell like a sack of bricks. His neck wobbled like he was a bobblehead. But he FAKED it? You’re as nutty as your team’s players. Burfict clearly targeted Brown and drove right through his head. He hits Brown just right and he’s paralyzed for life. Jack Tatum’s hit on Darryl Stingley wasn’t even close to being that dirty, or even that violent, and Stingley never moved by himself again.
Let’s not forget that in the second game this year Burfict went low on Ben and tried to take his legs out. That was a missed personal foul call, by the way. Just so you know.
As for Shazier’s hit, my immediate reaction was “Goddammit, you can’t hit people like that!” I post during the game on Fark, if you’d like timestamped evidence of that I’ll be glad to prove it to you.
Fact is, if you have a history of being a goon you will forever be a goon, especially if you keep doing it. Witness James Harrison. Nobody except you and your fellow Bengals fans believe that Burfict’s actions were an accident, and that’s because you’re looking through striped glasses.
There is too much butthurt stupid in that post to respond to all but just a couple things:
- The coach grabbed him to slow him down. His ghetto hair just happens to come down to his arm.
- If Porter was bait, Jones is the dumbass who took it. He tried to throw a punch and hit a ref. No way that doesn’t get a flag. There were multiple Bengals coaches on the field at the exact same time. Porter is just lucky Jones didn’t have a gun, or he’d be dead.
- Burfict is a piece of shit who has been doing this all season and nobody did anything. Even his teammates knew he would cost them big time because nobody ever checked him.
You lose. Good day.
[“ghetto hair”? Do people really say things like that?]
I guess. I don’t know why. I can’t make people think straight, but I wish they’d keep it to themselves.
This is so rich coming from a Steelers fan. Hey, remember Tyler Eifert? Yeah, that guy that YOUR player concussed so badly he missed four games? No flag there either for head hunting helmet to helmet contact. How about him? Did you feel bad about that hit either?
Dude, you’re INSANE. WATCH THE VIDEO I POSTED. Burfict held up before hitting Antonio Brown, and even then it was SHOULDER PADS, NOT HELMET TO HELMET LIKE YOUR TEAMS KEEPS GETTING AWAY WITH OVER AND OVER.
Look, as I said to you in a previous post, you praise James Harrison and Hines Ward because they are your thugs, you just hate Burfict because he’s ours. Enough with your hypocritical bullshit already.
Your first point tells me all I need to know about your utter lack of objectivity. Munchak pulled his fucking hair, it’s CLEAR on every video should you care to look. You’re just stupid. And IF PORTER WAS BAIT? Of course he was.
WHat this is really coming down to is nobody wanting to admit that their team does shady shit to win games, including what amounts to NFL psychological warfare, which the Steelers excel at and nuked the Bengals with yet again.
Good game and good day to you, twit.
Give it a rest. He grabbed his arm. The hair is as long as his arm. Some people are just overly sensitive and feel the need to lash out at every little thing.
All I hear is Bengals players, coaches, and fans blaming EVERYBODY else. Never mind that you fumbled with the lead and less than TWO MINUTES LEFT. Burfict and Jones then killed it. And what’s worse is Bengals players weren’t even surprised they did it!
This neutral who had no feelings either way about the Bengals thinks that Burfict intentionally tried to hurt Brown. As a result of the Bengals behavior I now wish nothing but losing seasons on their current lineup and coaching staff.
Try again. Munchak (whose fellow coach Todd Haley also allegedly put out a bounty on Wallace Gilberry prior to the previous game, story here: Todd Haley allegedly put a bounty on Bengals Wallace Gilberry’s head)
He grabs Nelson’s arm with his RIGHT hand. He’s got a fistful of dreads in his left. This was not some magnanimous act in trying to keep an opposing player from running into something on their bench, it was intentional.
The point in all of this is not to exonerate or excuse what the Bengals players did. They lost them the game. The point is that the Steelers have a HUGE AND LONG history of dirty bullshit and somehow because they win games it’s swept under the rug. And somehow the Bengals are nothing but thugs, which is wildly overstated.
And that the NFL favors the Steelers when they dole out penalties and fines. BOTH teams are EQUALLY at fault. Mike Tomlin once INTENTIONALLY tripped an opposing player returning a ball down the sideline! This is a systemic and over excused issue with the Steelers that nobody wants to address.
This Ravens fan who hates the Steelers with the white hot fire of a thousand burning suns thinks Burfict intentionally tried to injure Brown.
FGIE, take a breath. What reputation does Burfict have? I don’t believe you don’t already know this, but take a look:
[ul]
[li]2013, week 3: Fined $21,000 for a hit to a defenseless player[/li][li]2013, week 3: fined an additional $10,000 for striking/kicking/kneeing (in the groin!)[/li][li]2013 week 8: fined $21,000 for spearing[/li][li]2014, week 6: Fined $25,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct (ankle twisting)[/li][li]2015, week 14: fined $69,464 for unsportsmanlike conduct (against Pittsburgh!)[/li][li]2015, week 17: fined $50,000 for late hit (against Baltimore)[/li][/ul]
Burfict clearly goes out trying to hurt opponents, and he was fined almost $120,000 in the last month. There’s no way to argue that he’s anything but reckless, and the league would be better off without him.
Grsz11, Munchak clearly pulled Nelson’s hair.
Not remotely, dude. And this is coming, again, from someone who hates the Steelers and really wanted Cincy to win that game.
This is the second time I’ve seen this since Saturday. It’s a story that grows with each retelling. Next it’ll be that he went out to midfield and laid a monster tackle on him. Alas for you, it never happened. No contact was made. None. Zero. Bupkis.
Oh my bad, he TRIED to trip him. The end result was the same. HA HA HA HA JAcoby Jones, no return for you!
And Tomlin is all smiles and innocence on the sideline.
NO OTHER TEAM DOES THIS SHITApparently nobody is interested in watching the video I posted that CLEARLY shows the difference between the Shazier hit and the Burfict one. You’ll now have to actually click on the YouTube link as the NFL is busy trying to take it down. Go figure.
