The Mad About You Reboot is Pretty Good

A. Yes, there was a Mad About You Reboot. It originally aired on Spectrum which is a channel no one has but now is on Amazon Prime (along with the original show).

and

  1. I watched the first two episodes so far and it was much better than I expected (although admittedly my expectations were very low). Most of the original cast is back and the chemistry is still there. They only made one season but I kind of hope if enough people watch on Prime maybe Bezos will use a few million he left in his pants pocket to make some more.

Here’s the thread I started when it came out. I enjoyed it.

Bah, it’s not on Amazon Prime in Canada.

Also not in Switzerland.

Bah.

Reboot? I thought it was a continuing show, with a new season. Kind of like how Frasier is doing next year and how X-files did a few years ago.

I guess it depends on your definition as to what a reboot is. It is indeed a continuation with the same characters jumped ahead 20 years or so but it also calls itself Season 1 so shrug emoji

I’m going to give this a pass just because Paul Reiser is in it. I loved him in the original run and he was one of the best parts in the movie Diner. For some reason, I just can’t stand him anymore. That stuttering thing he does just drives me nuts now. :person_shrugging:t4:

I may watch the new version, but I feel exactly the same.

mmm

I think I like him more in his recent projects (e.g. Red Oaks, Stranger Things, The Boys) than I did back in the day with Mad About You.

His comedy was great, too, but I only ever remember seeing a couple of stand-up appearances from him.

Yeah he did a stand up special I think on HBO that I remembering one of the best I have seen but I haven’t seen it since the 80s or 90s, whenever it aired.

I liked it too, in fact, after I watched it, I decided to rewatch the original series. It was one of my favorite shows back then. When I started rewatching it, the first couple of episodes had me asking myself - why did I ever like this? But it got better and better as it went along. It had been so long since I had seen it, most episodes were brand new to me.
