People, it takes a LOT to get me to post on the side of an issue that this OP is going to be on. Most times these days I think of ‘9-11’ as a tragedy that has been perverted for political means. The people who were murdered seem to me to have been totally forgotten as they are only mentioned in terms of drumming up support for new policies, laws, or campaigns.
That being said, I find this to be so Blatantly Offensive that I find it to be Totally Unacceptable.
Which really makes you wonder. It seems to me that an investigation may be appropriate if there is an indication that these people may take action to inflict another “comeuppance” on the US, but I fear that this may result in excessive behavior by the government designed to do no more than shut these people up. As before, when it comes to the enjoyment of liberties there is a constant balancing act going on. How these people are dealt with may indicate how the balance is being struck now. Just how the group is “clearly…a danger” is not as apparent as that, clearly, this group is offensive.
Well, in Shrub’s America, if you are offensive then you are also a danger.
Which doesn’t explain why Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson are still bleating on Tv rather then being locked in cages down in Guantanamo like they deserve.
You remind me of someone from my youth who insisted that Nixon was just as bad as Hitler and, despite repeated requests to justify his belief, could only offer stuff that amounted to nothing better than an: “it’s obvious”.
Can you improve on his lame efforts and explain to me how you have managed to reason your way into believing that Osama Has Bin, those who admire him, those who wish to follow his example and encourage others to follow in the contrails of the "Magnificent " 19, can be put on the same moral level as Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson to the extent that you think they deserve to be locked up in cages?
I am genuinely interested in reading your reply, reasoned, or otherwise.
Likely they’re doing it for international attention. I wonder whether this group has the resources to pull off such a massive terrorist attack…but they certainly would like support from their fellow extremists – and to be lambasted by the people they hate.
I’d check on what resources they can bring to bear before saying “These people are a danger.” If they’re publicly on the US’s radar, they’ll just get more members.
Such as the hijackers themselves, for example. We know, in the worst possible way, that there are people evil enough to commit such a crime. Why is it a surprise that there are people who are merely evil enough to applaud such a crime?
