The Matrix 20 Years Later.

Huh, I didn’t know they still weren’t. Learn something new every day.

Yup. One came out as trans a while back and then a few years later so did the other one. That’s why their directing credit used to say “The Wachowski Brothers” but recent credits just say “The Wachowskis.”

There was the brief period when they were “The Wachowski Siblings” too.

When Larry came out as Lana, it was definitely no shock. The rumors had been flying since before the first Matrix and I’d seen him(at the time) in interviews. I wasn’t surprised too much.

However, when Andy came out as Lilly, my mind was blown. It really shows that sometimes, you have no idea what people are like. Kind of same with Bruce Jenner for me. I really don’t know what any person is like unless I know them personally.

Thirded. And Atomic Alex, I like that workaround for the whole batteries thing.

I’ll put in a word of defense for the Wachowskis’ Cloud Atlas and V for Vendetta - both different from their source material, but pretty entertaining movies in their own right. Still, they never quite hit the same high mark of the original Matrix.

I like V for Vendetta, though they did not direct it. They did, however, write the script.

I’m a little surprised that youths would be familiar enough with the Wachowskis to know their genders at all. I mean, if you see a directing credit for them in a movie as “the Wachowskis”, or an article talking about “The newest film from the Wachowskis (who previously directed The Matrix and Jupiter Ascending)…”, that won’t tell you their gender at all. You’d need either an article that specifically called out their gender (which would then probably also mention their transitions), or you’d need something like a televised interview with them.

The only time I’ve seen the Wachowskis since The Matrix films was interviews they did for their show Sense8 on Netflix - but they did a lot of press for that.
