The missing Aisenberg baby possibly found?

Actually, I was not familiar with this case until I heard a blurb on the news this morning. All I can say is that if this turns out to be true–if I were one of the parents I would be seriously POed.

Here’s an old story:

And from this morning:

I moved to Tampa back in 2000 and it was still big news then. I’m hoping it is Sabrina. That would be an amazing story.

Hope they know for certain soon. This Aisenberg uncertainty is driving me nuts, by principle.

Zenham, you’re asking for such a smack. (wish I’d thought of that one.)

What an astonishing story, if true.

Wow, that’s eerily similar to the Buddy/Eli Quick story that’s also been in the news lately. Here’s hoping both families get good news from the DNA labs and can be reunited with their long lost children. Although, if I’m reading the Sabrina story correctly, it almost seems as if the “parents” were unaware of the child’s true origins and were raising her in a good faith effort to help a child in need. Five years is a long time to love a child only for her to be taken away.

While I’m hoping for the best for all concerned, it bothers me that the news services seem to be jumping the gun here. The reports are speculation linked to old news stories. Like the Buddy/Eli thing - first reports were that it’s almost certainly the same boy, then, well, maybe not. So you’e got family members reliving an old tragedy, getting their hopes up, then facing the possibility that there was nothing to hope for after all. I can’t imagine what that would be like.

Why does this stuff get publicized before all the facts are in? I don’t understand why such information is released or leaked. After a matter of years, waiting a few more days or weeks to know for sure doesn’t seem to be an unreasonable option. Yeah, I know, it all comes down to money…

Maybe there will be happy endings.
