The more I think about it, the more AOL bothers me

I’ve been FREE AOL since December of last year. I keep calling to cancel and they keep giving me free months. I’ll let them keep me as a subscriber as long as I don’t have to pay anything to them.

My mom insists on using AOL even though she has a cable modem!! She pays fifty bucks a month for broadband access, and then she pays even more to use AOL’s crappy browser! I just don’t understand it!

She is somewhat comfortable around computers. She’s surrounded by computer saavy people. Every time I see her I try to explain why she doesn’t need to pay for AOL, but she just mutters something incoherent and I decide to let her stay in her comfort zone. I could’t keep her from buying a Compaq, either, so I guess it is a lost cause.

This sounds JUST like my dad. We have Roadrunner, but he wants to keep Earthlink just to keep his Earthlink e-mail address! And he bought a Compaq against my strong warnings!
