IMO Oceans 11 is one of the better remakes.
Here’s one to shudder in advance for: A remake of Daniel Webster and The Devil…staring Jennifer Love Hewitt as the Devil!

I don’t think anybody’s mentioned Bedazzled. The original is still entertaining because of the comic chemistry between Dudley Moore and Peter Cook, and it embodies a particular kind of satire that you don’t see much anymore. A key mistake in the remake was casting Brendon Fraser; he’s a good actor, but too darn handsome. Dudley Moore was entirely believable as a short-order cook who has no luck with girls.
It certainly helps when the original film is a piece of crap. Even an Andie McDowell/Adam Sandler pairing couldn’t be much worse than watching Sinatra and his buddies be (not act like) a bunch of drunken imbeciles.
