That’s the Best Part.
I’m a Kansas native currently residing in Nebraska.
Not really gonna argue with this but I might throw out Utah IF (strong emphasis here) you’re not into outdoorsey type recreation.
Also, North Dakota sucks unless you like buying your crystal meth from vending machines.
I’ll also go with Indiana. Even its major city is boring as can be. Kansas is awful but I didn’t notice the constant speed traps as I saw in Indiana which seems to have a county line every 5 miles. And you know there was a cop at every county line.
Also, IN has some pretty weird liquor laws.
The problem for North Dakota is that North Dakota and South Dakota should really just be one state. I mean, who do they think they’re fooling?
Delaware. Doesn’t even really exist.
It seems like Delaware was supposed to be part of Maryland, but they didn’t want it or something.
I’m another. TR National Park is great, relatively unknown and underrated, which also means it’s not that crowded. And Bismarck is an interesting place, Fort Abraham Lincoln and site of native village there, the state museum, etc. In the spring or summer, of course. I also found it interesting just to drive through the northwestern part of ND and see what the ‘oil boom’ there looks like in everyday terms. As in upper midwest generally the people tend to be polite and welcoming, I found. ND does have a lot of lonely flat driving that can be boring, but the state as a whole is not entirely boring IMO.
I can’t conceive of anyone saying WY is boring. That’s got to be some kind of political jab or something. All different kinds of terrific scenery all over, one of the least boring places in the country to just drive, IMO. Also ID boring? Hard to imagine anyone thinking that, for similar reason.
There’s basically nothing to ‘see’ in DE, but the shore there is nice.
I’ve been to all 50 and I can think of several things worthwhile in each state. Maybe I don’t belong in this thread. Hey, what am I doing here?
You can’t vote for Delaware. The OP is clearly talking about places that really exist. You may as well say Doldrums from The Phantom Tollbooth.
Connecticut would get strong consideration for its relative nothingness and status as a food desert for travelers, except it’s small enough that the boredom factor is limited.
Pennsylvania is wretchedly long and boring and attractions are limited except for Clyde Peeling’s Reptiland and Polka Party on the radio on Sunday mornings in western PA. Food and water are also hard to come by.
Delaware. Has there ever even been a book or movie set in Delaware?
At least Iowa has Effigy Mounds, the Amana Colonies and the Pella Tulip Festival.
We have discussed this important issue before , in a wonderful little thread
wherein the wisdom of the Dope agrees with you, almost.
Yes but yourself will have a lot more opportunities to find something interesting to see or do in New York state than it will in Nebraska.
Which is my vote. Though I fully understand the arguments for Kansas. Should I find myself in any of those places for a sufficient length of time, myself has given me full permission to take the two (one?) of us somewhere else. Quickly.
Good choice. I pulled into a rest stop in Iowa, where a sign was prominently displayed: “Iowa’s Not Boring!”
If you have to say that your state is not boring–then it’s boring.
heh just dont look “mexican” in iowa
The further you drive into Kansas on I-70 the further you have to go. Scientific fact. You drive all day and then it turns out you have a whole next day to drive. Eventually you arrive somewhere that is not Kansas but it took longer than it had any right to.
“Virginia is for Lovers”
“Delaware is for Incorporation”
Driving throught Nebraska or Kansas after the beginning of August. All you see is cornstalks. And more cornstalks. And more cornstalks.
Pennsylvania along I-80 is unbelievably long and boring. But if it’s fall, the leaves are beautiful.
Indiana, east to west, isn’t so bad. It’s not big enough to be really boring.
Ohio? More astronauts than any other state. That’s how desperate they are to leave. Also the Wright brothers are from Ohio.
Have you ever been to Kansas? There’s much more wheat than corn. And don’t forget the feedlots.
Maybe most of Iowa is boring, but the NE corner has lots of topography.
Wyoming has the Bighorns and (most of) Yellowstone
Idaho has the Mesa Falls scenic byway and the St Anthony Dunes.
Nebraska is definitely up there at least along I80
