I read King’s Different Seasons (a collection of 4 novellas) several years ago, and was impressed and touched by The Body and Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption.
However, I couldn’t even get to halfway through Apt Pupil. When the boy started practicing holocaust-event-tortures on neighborhood cats and dogs (specifically I’m remembering where they put a cat in an oven), I was out. I put down the book and didn’t dare finish it. Yet I still had nightmares. 
Another part of American Psycho that was just wrong was where he made the rodent go up through the woman’s vaginia, closed the opening and had the rodent chew it’s way out of the woman’s abdomen.
Oh, forgot another book. The part in Misery where Annie uses the axe on Paul’s legs (in the movie she used a sledgehammer).
