Wow, really!?! I mean what’s the world world coming to. We are expected to believe a cryptocurrency project from billionaire POTUS and all round honest guy Donald J Trump actually swindled someone?

I mean come on, when has any project that involved either of those two terms ever actually swindled someone or involved any kind of dishonest dealing. Let alone one that involves BOTH of them. I’m surprised the Economist would publish this kind of wild scurrilous accusation
The Economist article is paywalled, but trust me on this one: it’s wild. You can get a sense of the mayhem by reading these 2 articles in order.
Crypto bro Justin Sun was under investigation by the SEC who reportedly had a strong case. Then, days after Trump’s election, he bought $75 million of WLFI tokens: the Trump family would receive 75% of all such sales. Then SEC charges were miraculously dropped the following year, with an apparently paltry $10 million fine. Soon after, during the summer of 2025, the Trump family launched some stablecoins: they shook down Sun wanted an investment of $200 million. He demurred, then found his WLFI account frozen. Now he’s suing.
Let 'em fight.
I’m rooting for injuries.
Here was me thinking the allegations in the OP were the most unexpected unlikely thing ever to happen in history. I stand corrected this is the most unexpected unlikely thing ever to happen in history…
I mean serious is there a human being on the planet who could have possibly predicted this outcome?!? I think not.
This phone thing is just hilarious!
The best part, for me, is the implied up-coming “Double Tap”. That the “deposit” wasn’t really a deposit, just something that gives you the right to actually purchase the thing when they really, really promise that it’s coming out this time, for Reals!
I piss myself laughing at thinking of these idiots pulling out the credit card again for a “phone” that A) Isn’t as good as a cheap Moto, B) Won’t work with existing networks, and C) Will never actually exist
