I watched the first 15 minutes or so of “Platoon” before I was so physically ill I had to stop it. If you haven’t seen it, let me just say that it involves babies and violence.
“Memento” gave me motion sickness and made by brain hurt from thinking too hard.
Movies that disturbed me enough to lose my appetite: The Piano, Elephant Man, Dances with Wolves and Leaving Las Vegas.
It suddenly struck me that I haven’t contributed my own sickie scene to the thread, even though I meant to all along. So:
The movie My Little Eye:
At the end, when the last survivor is locked in the freezer, a comment is made which makes it clear that the unseen operators of the game are wagering on how long it will take her to die. It’s a chilling scene -excuse pun.
Not only that scene, but the whole film is presented so as to put you in the position of the people watching and betting. It’s the ultimate anti-voyeur show, and more power to it - but I’m not going anywhere near it ever again.
It’s about the Vietnam War, but much of the action in the movie takes place across the border in Cambodia, where Kurtz and his followers have set up shop.
True, but saying Apocalypse Now is about Cambodia is like saying A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court is about Connecticut. In fact, it’s probably less accurate; at least ACYiKAC has something to say about Connecticutters. Apocalypse Now has no connection with Cambodia except for a bit of geography.
