The munsters vs the adams fsmily

I dressed up as Eddie Munster one year.

I don’t even remember the Munsters, so have to go with the Addams family.

Skimming the wiki bios, looks like Gomez and Wednesday are the only ones still with us.

And Felix Silla. (Cousin Itt.)

Fred was also good as the safecracker in Disorganized Crime, a much underappreciated movie.

Lisa Loring, aka “Wednesday,” has apparently led a fairly tumultuous life:

For some reason (Uhm … crappy translators?), the character was named “Wensdale” in the Russian dubbing of the '90s movies with Christina Ricci.*

*Just like in First Blood, Rambo’s code name was “Long Wolf,” not “Lone Wolf.”

huh. Uncle Fester was The Kidwith Charlie Chaplin.

[Johnny Carson voice]I did not know that.[/Johnny Carson voice]

Yes, and it’s because of him that child actors today cannot be cheated out of their money by their parents:

I recently checked out of the library the first two seasons of Addams Family so it is certainly fresher in my mind than the decades-old ones of The Munsters but I think the humor in the former is more sophisticated than in the latter.

I was also absolutely fascinated by Morticia’s dress. Besides the obvious reasons, I have to wonder: Could the poor woman even sit down in that thing?

They lampshaded that in an episode when she gave Wednesday a makeover. Trying to move in that thing gave the poor little girl fits. She turned to Lurch to ask for advice. He gave a sympathetic grunt, and she gave him a bit hug. Object lesson: compassion does not require eloquence.

In a number of episodes she’s shown sitting down in a large wicker chair called a peacock chair. Once she asked some “normals” who thought she was an alien, “Mind if I smoke?” while sitting. Then (after getting permission) smoke rose from her back.

I guess they never closed it because I just voted in it. LOL

True. I remember her sitting in more than one episode, but do not recall seeing at any time Ms Jones transition from standing to sitting (or vice-versa for that matter). I’d bet they had ‘standing’ and ‘sitting’ versions of the costume.

Oh, goody! I was hoping this would come up again. Now I can give my analogy: The Addams Family is like a work of art by surreal artist Ray Caesar. Captivating and repellant at the same time, eerie and haunting. … The Munsters is like a black velvet oil painting of a clown…to each his own!

That law didn’t do squat for Gary Coleman and a bunch of other ex-child actors. Note it only specifies 15% of the earnings go to a trust, and those can be manipulated. Furthermore, the IRS comes after the kid for back taxes caused by the parents’ financial shenanigans. For example, the Cowsills kids, while not in CA, found themselves suffering most from the latter matter.

Probably. They’d have used some sort of fabric that gives (silk jersey, or something), and/or they’d probably have cut it on the bias. She wouldn’t be leaping about, or doing high kicks with her legs confined, but she’d be able to sit.
