I just read a remarkable story (which may support the theory of reincarnation). An english woman in 1908 (she as 4 years old really) announced to her parents that she was an egyptian princess. The woman eventually married an egyptian and moved to Egypt, where she worked as an assistant to Egyptologists, and had a son, which she named Seti (after the pharoah Seti of 3500 years ago. She eventually became known as Oom Seti, and related that she had lived as a temple priestess in Ancient Egypt. She even claimed to have been intimate with the Pharoah seti! During all this time, she was described a sperfectly rational, and in fact made many contributions to Egyptology.
My question: has anybody ever seriously investigated this case? Admittedly, it would be hard to verify details of a live lived some 3500 years ago, but she did claim knowledge of a temple garden, and gave exact directions to the archaeologists who were excavating this ancient site.
Anybody know more about this ?
I’m still waiting for the punchline…
How does an ancient Egyptian doorbell work?
Toot and come in!
How come all these reincarnated folks are always royalty? It’s always Cleopatra or Marie Antoinette or Julius Caeser or some obscure princess – never the poopsmith.
You’re forgetting Arnold J Rimmer, who was the re-incarnation of Alexander the Great’s chief eunuch…
Hey Inky, I wasn’t royalty in my previous life. I learned about my former self on a flight from LA to Dallas when I sat next to a woman who claimed to be a “registered” psychic. She took my hand and held it for a few seconds and then proceeded to tell me about my past life. She told me that in my prior life I was a highwayman in Italy, during the 1500’s, and that there was a large reward posted for my capture. She told me that I was thrown from my horse during a robbery attempt, and died from a broken back. I don’t recall one iota of this crap, but I suppose if I wasn’t royalty, being a brigand was better than being a poopsmith or a eunuch.
I saw a video about her in a class I had last semester. I don’t think it even mentioned she thought she was reincarnated. She was definitely a respected egyptologist who felt an emotional connection with ancient Egypt, however I know nothing of the reincarnation bit.
Is this the same Seti who’s in SETI@home?
Oom Seti? Is that anywhere near Spare Oom?
There was a National Geographic video about ancient Egypt. It’s from at least ten ormore years ago. I remember this woman from the video, mentioned as an Egyptologist, but I don’t remember anything about the reincarnation. Doesn’t mean it wasn’t there though. The narrator said that she died a few days after the interview that was recorded for the video.
The book’s called The Search for Oom Seti. It’s interesting because her life was interesting whether or not the reincarnation stuff is supported by fact.
