The Nature of Compromise

Waitaminit. Any Orthodox Jew who wants kosher food at this place can get it whenever they ask for it?

That makes it an eatery “for the Jewish community” in my book.

So what you’re complaining about is that the residents of the Retirement Community have the opportunity to eat non-kosher food there, although they can have kosher food if they want it? That strikes me as a bit harsh; after all, residents of retirement communities are usually elderly and often quite restricted in mobility, and may seldom get to eat anywhere else. I don’t think elderly people who don’t feel the need to follow strict kashrut laws in their daily eating should have to do so, as long as they have the opportunity to do so if they want. Remember, this was originally supposed to be about compromise.
