The Never-ending NBA Playoffs

Worst officiating EVAH. With all of the contact every time a Laker drove, not a single shooting foul? Not a single one?? How about obvious home court bullshit officiating?

Not really: he said it was technically a goaltend because Gasol’s hand hit the rim, but that this is rarely called these days. (He termed it “basket interference” and said old high school referees might sometimes call it.) If the contact had made the rim vibrate and affected the shot, it would have made sense to call a goal tend there, but that isn’t how it happened.

I like Dwight Howard a lot and want to see him win championships. But he needs to develop some more moves to prevent teams from shutting him down. And the PG management for Orlando has really hindered them.

Hell, simply not dribbling and doing a pump fake every single time no matter how far away the defense is would go a long way. He gives the defense time to collapse on him even when hes right at the basket, and the less he tries to dribble the less turnovers he will have.

Did anyone else start laughing when Hedo started doing Kobe’s pump-fake, then jump into the defender move on Odom? Even better was when Odom started complaining about it to the ref.

He didn’t steal it from Kobe- he was doing it to Cleveland defenders too. I did have to laugh at Odom, though - I mean, Kobe is smoother than a baby’s butt, and you can’t really blame anyone for biting on his fakes, but Hedo is all awkward and herky-jerky and generally looks like he’s constantly being electrocuted.

Hedo looks so uncoordinated its incredibly shocking how good he actually is. I think Pierce was the one he stole the pump fake foul thing from to be honest.

Who could have predicted that having an All-Star guard like Nelson coming back would hurt the Magic? Rafer’s now pissed because in 2 big games he was sitting on the bench while Nelson stunk it up and had defensive lapses during critical stretches.

If Van Gundy wants to really switch things up, he needs to pretend like Nelson’s not there and play Alston and his regular season backup (Anthony Johnson is his name?) They are the ones that got them to this point. Nelson should only see the floor if both of those guys are having fould trouble

But I’m a Lakers fan so who cares, go Lakers!

Amway Arena is awfully quiet tonight.

I can’t believe Jeff Van Gundy was saying the Lakers should sit Kobe in the 4th quarter to “make it more meaningful.” That’s about the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard a sports announcer say.

Lakers win. Phil gets his 10th ring. Kobe gets a ring without Shaq.

I’m kind of surprised that Orlando laid down tonight. I thought they’d at least want to stop the Lakers from celebrating in their own building. I guess they just lost all their heart after thursday.

They were just a couple of missed shots away from from starting tonight’s game up 3-1 too. If Courtney Lee makes that dunk. If Dwight Howard just hits one of those late free throws in Game 4, it’s a whole different series. I think that’s where their inexperience showed up. I think they got the yips. Well now they’re experienced. There’s no reason they can’t get back here next year (they have to hang onto Turkey Glue, though).

Once again: screw you, Orlando Magic.

I wonder how they’ll fill the gap without Turkoglu, if they lose him. Battie a starter? Maybe Pietras as starting small forward?
It’ll be really interesting if Shaq actually goes to Cleveland.

CONGRATS to the Los Angeles Lakers. 15th title in team history. 10th title as a coach for Jackson. 1st for Kobe without Shaq, but he hasn’t won one without Fisher. Hehehe. Who cares! LAKERS, OMEDETOU GOZAIMASU from Tokyo!

shudder

I’d be more inclined to stick Courtney Lee at SF if we’re moving people around - Pietrus is 29, so I would guess it would be harder for him to learn a new position than Lee.

I don’t think either is really a viable option, though. Maybe we can just play three guards all the time like West Virginia.

Otis has stated they are willing to go over the luxury tax in order to resign Hedo. Gortat is a goner though.

Certainly congrats to the Lakers. They played great. I still hate 'em, but they deserved the title.

That “15th title” stuff bugs me though. I’m old school, and back in '72 when Wilt and West finally won their title everyone said it was the first title for the LA Lakers. Now that they want to chase down the Celtics the boys from LA suddenly rediscover their Minneapolis roots and take credit for the ones George Mikan and company won too. New math and revisionist history. I don’t hear the Atlanta Braves bragging about the 1957 World Series the Milwaukee Braves won, or the 1914 one the Boston Braves pulled out.

Kobe had a heck of a playoffs, congrats to the Lakers.
