I’m with those in favor of it. I always loved that version of the song, for many of the reasons already mentioned.
I feel flattered to be called a whipper snapper. I watched Neil Armstrong walk on the moon. I remember, somewhat vaguely, the assassination of JFK. So you must really be up there.
I knew it was Sid. I hit the mute button every time. I can’t stand it.
This has to be the worst rendition of that song that I’ve ever heard. Acura is trying to sell a $30K car with that commercial? I googled it and sure enough, I’m not the only one who can’t stand it.
Thing is, they play it over and over and over and over. When is it going to end? Every time I hear that commercial I feel like blowing my brains out.

If you’re offended by this song and their music in general then they’ve accomplished what they set out to do far beyond their wildest dreams.

The fact that it’s Sid Vicious singing it doesn’t change the fact that it sucks.
Maybe they feel it is the kind of music that appeals to the well to do free thinkers who are in the market for a luxury vehicle.
As opposed to the mid level drones who spent their whole lives listening to another generation’s music. That’s who Fords and Chevys are for.

It might be a minor distinction, but it’s not a Sex Pistols cover. Sid covered My Way without them, after they had broken up.
It makes me so sad they use his version to sell cars. I think it’s much better than Sinatra’s version.

One of the cable channels was showing Goodfellas today and I caught the last part of it. At the end, as the credits were rolling, suddenly this song was playing. At first I thought that maybe it was going to fade into a commercial, or they were mistakenly playing the audio from the Acura commercial over the credits, but it continued.
Turns out, this actually was used for the closing credits of the movie.
It makes perfect sense as the closing to this movie. It was about a bunch of guys who did it their way, and their way was disastrous.
