TheLoadedDog’s tryin’ to steal my idea.
Ok, sucker, wanna step outside?

The thread title quote bug, and how to avoid it by not previewing.
Why ancient 1999 threads are sometimes out of order chronologically.
Why posts in GQ should have at least 1 actual statement within them phrased in the form of a question.
Yeah, must admit I didn’t see that post until after I posted mine. Nothing worse than a copydog.
I agree with that, but… uh… could you be a pal and not, uh, word it that exact way…?
Yeah, “If we notice you using an IP Supreme Overlord of the Earth, you’ll be completely vaporized save your brain, which will go work for Fox News.”
Howz that?
Yeah, what Smackfu said about the thread title/quotation mark/Preview bug.
Or maybe just fix the bug??
Q: What do I do with all of this leftover, imported chocolate I have lying around my house?
A: This is an ongoing problem, and it needs more study. Please send all of your chocolate to Lynn Bodoni and TubaDiva. These two fine ladies will perform taste experiments on your chocolate to make sure it is safe for consumption. Do not sample the chocolate yourself!. That’s why they’re here.
What I meant, TubaDiva, was can that question (and answer) be added to the New and Improved FAQ, since I am apparently not the only one who has asked it (JimB says it gets brought up about twice a week). Sorry if it looked like I was just asking the same damn thing twice. [sub]Sigh.[/sub]
I’d agree with most of the suggestions above, particularly the VB code info, since those questions are ubiquitous.
Better instructions for the Search would be very helpful; it took me several attempts to make word searches work (e.g., if you just type in ‘pan’, you get back ‘Japan’, ‘pantomime’, ‘pants’, etc.).
Definitely need to add the Registration Agreement info - again, I tried many times to go back & reread that (because it was referenced in threads) before I figured out how to get there.
Thanks for asking!
How about the request that posters don’t use ASCII, binary, hexadecial, any code, or non English to post? The moderators and administrators already asked posters no to do this, as they have to translate the message, and thy don’t have the time.
How about “don’t post such that it cannot readily be determined whether you are being a jerk or not, or it may just be assumed that you are.”
Given Gambit’s trouble here I’d suggest two things for the faq:
Info on how to customize the settings for your userid (or link to information on the same) with special focus on what the defaults are (i.e., chicago time).
Info on what to do if you think your userid has been hacked or misused.
This isn’t meant as a jab at gambit, BTW; it’s just an example of something that newbies are going to run into, especially the first part.

I would most respectfully suggest that the User Agreement be added either to the Forum Page or else added as a permanent feature to EVERY fora such as the announcements are.
I also agree that EVERY new user should be forced to read the faq before completing registration Then again, I didn’t have to as I lurked for over a year before registering…
Did anybody mention the etiquette of bumping threads yet?
I was planning on waiting until the thread fell off the first page.
A note that spoilers should be clearly labelled as such, both in the thread titles and in individual posts.
I think that we need to include a link to a netiquette guide, and give specific guidelines about not cross-posting.
Having most recently had just such a problem with a program I had recorded but not yet seen, I was about to post pretty much along your lines in MPSIMS. For example, name and date of the TV program or of the film, followed by the mention ‘SPOILER’ in capital letters.
As for your second point, needless to say I’m in agreement:)
Is there a ‘spell-check’ function we can use before sumitting? I’ve looked in FAQ but did not find anything on this. Let’s say that, more often than not, it would be useful.
Uh. That should be ‘submitting’…
(Can’t believe this. I had purposefully re-read my post before submitting, given the subject matter at hand!!)
On the positive side: It proves my point:D.
