In another disturbing news item, Russia is part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (a trade group) with China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. And recently the Russians have been pushing to turn the SCO from an economic alliance in a military one. A new Warsaw Pact with China and Russia in it together. (Admittedly, China has so far been resisting the Russian proposals.)
