Oh, the Harley guy obtained his bike license in October of 2002. Typical midlife crisis rider. Not a bad egg, but sheesh, how’s about a nice second hand Jap bike for starters?
He took his motorcycle out on ICE ? Well, any crash you walk away from is just fate tapping you gently on the shoulder and asking you to reconsider your parameters for situational assessment. Or something. Wonder what his insurance premium looks like now…
People do tend to get in over their heads, don’t they ? Nothing against Softtails, nothing against rookies, it’s just that they don’t mix. He could’ve learned that particular lesson at one-tenth the price. At least he didn’t decide that a tricked-out Ninja ZX-12R was just the cure against midlife ennui.
Waiting for spring is pretty smart. Although it’s a looooong wait - I’ve been reduced to wearing my helmet indoors in mid-February, just to get a little of the feeling… The haircut ? Don’t ask.
You can see a picture of the bike here. It’s about a 1/3 of the way down.
No, he didn’t ride on ice. The ramp leading out of the parking garage had a patch of black ice on it, and he completely overlooked it. Dumb, too, since he could have avoided it - it didn’t cover the entire width of the ramp.
There’s one thing this “veteran” of 1.5 years knows: 90% of the near-accidents you have in your first year of riding have to do with misinterpreting the road ahead of you.
The other 10% is when it isn’t a near-accident, and you rear-end a flippin’ Suzuki Swift. :smack:
Damn, there’s some fugly crap on that page!
