Bald cop’s name is Mackey. You know, like Mr. Mackey. From South Park.
It’s distracting as hell, IMHO.

The series had nudity. Oh, boy, does it have nudity; too bad the only nude I’ve seen so far was dead. Not only that, her daughter had disappeared.
Well, inspite of myself, I am really starting to like the show.
I really like what they do with Mackey’s character. Do you like him? Hate him? If you worked for him, would you be loyal? Is he a good cop? Bad cop? Does he love his wife and kid? Is he a big jerkoff? At some point in the show, I’ll answer “yes” to every question and “no” to every question.
BTW, I love the fact that the black cop is gay and we got to see him kiss the other guy.
I have to agree with Pepperlandgirl, in how they twist and tweak your emotions with Mackey’s character. One moment, you’re thinking, well, maybe his isn’t so bad. And then 2 min later, you’re thinking, he’s the dirtiest cop on the face of the planet.
I am NOT gonna say more, becuase you HAVE to watch that first episode if you haven’t seen it already.
Mackey is a good guy gone bad with remenents of good left over. I don’t like him depsite myself, I just plain old like him. Unfortunately, I could never forgive the things he’s done, and if I were in such a position I would bust his ass. Don’t have to hate a guy who deserves punishment… if we did, wouldn’t we all have to hate our kids?
You were absolutely right, I finally caught the premiere episode and it was definitely worth it. I’m glad I didn’t know the ending, but it would have been even better if I didn’t even know that the ending was going to be a shocking one.
Poor Reed Diamond. First he’s booted off the Baltimore Homicide unit for killing Luthor Mahoney, and now this. Guy just can’t catch a break.
I like the show, I just wonder how long Mackey can keep it up without being caught. Seems to me that if he’s breaking the law every week, he’s going to get caught sooner or later, and the longer it goes without happening the less believable it is. Still, if/when he DOES get caught- there goes your show.
It’s true, without Mackey constantly riding the line between good and evil, that show’s got nothing. I’ve faithfully watched all 3 episodes so far, and I wouldn’t be interested without him. It’d just be another cop show to me. If he ever gets caught, then the show will probably go downhill.
In some ways, I sort of forgive him for what happened in the first episode. Maybe it’s just because deep down I know it’s just a TV show, and I usually like characters like Mackey in movies. I tried putting myself in the same position, and I’m not so sure I wouldn’t have done the same. Though I would’ve tried hard to come up with another option.
I get kinda bored by that other detective guy, he doesn’t do anything for me. I really like that chick cop though.
[POSSIBLE SPOILER OF SOMETHING THAT DIDN"T HAPPEN YET]

Does anyone remember seeing a preview for an upcoming episode where the chick cop gets a gun put to her head and she says “I’m a cop” and you hear the attacker say “well I guess that makes me a cop killer”? I saw it after watching the first episode, and I thought it would happen at the end of the second episode but it never did (or did I miss it?) and I’m wondering whether they decided to remove that scene and/or change the story…
From the looks of it, it’s going to happen in episode 4.
The thing I like about Mackey is that he’s so tough to figure out. Like in the most recent episode. He conspires to keep that NBA player out of the game with the Lakers, pretty much making the Lakers a lock to win. He does this, not to make a killing by betting on the game, as I expected, but to help the Lakers get into the playoffs!
In a lot of ways, he seems less corrupt and out of control than the other members of the strike team, the 1st ep incident aside. Though I do like the fact that their actions are putting a major strain on them. I really want to see what happens in the future.
