The "new" information on the Vegas shooting

Connected rooms in a suite, from all appearances.

Presumably, the investigators took photographs and examined the holes in the concrete from some of the many bullets fired. I would assume they will work out from the trajectories which window they were fired from, and makes sure that all the people shot could have been hit from those two windows, and make sure at all times, only one gun was firing.

Because the act of doing this is error prone, maybe there will be a bullet that maybe ricocheted and hit someone that will give support for conspiracy theories.

Yes it was a corner high roller suite with several rooms. All indications are the (one) shooter broke out both to give himself a larger field of fire.

Jack Ruby died of a pulmonary embolism, partly due to lung cancer. Four doctors were at the autopsy, which also found cancer in his brain, lymph nodes, liver, pancreas, pleura, ribs, and vertebra. There was no sign of cancer in the chest x-rays that were taken when he was imprisoned three years earlier. The conspiracy was THAT good.

I have no idea how many shooters there were, but why did he need 12+ assault rifles? Were the rifles overheating and jamming so he picked a different one?

If that were the case why not buy one that doesn’t overheat from automatic fire?

Is there a gun that doesn’t overheat from rapid fire ? I always thought that was a holy grail for gunsmiths …

AR-15 meltdown.

Even purpose built machine guns are fired in short bursts to avoid overheating and have quick change barrels.
ETA: It’s also quicker to pick up a new rifle than reload.

A water cooled machinegun. Problem is, there are almost none in civilian hands, I’m not sure how easy to belted ammo is to obtain, and they are very bulky and heavy.

Right, there is no such thing as a machine gun that won’t overheat. They are called crew served weapons for a reason. One of the duties of the assistant gunner is to replace the barrel quickly when needed. The shooter in this case was using 100 round magazines. AR-15 type weapons can be made to fire upwards of 400 rounds per minute with a bump fire stock. The weapon is not designed for that kind of shooting. The barrel is going to overheat and warp.

" Consequently, Browning used a second gun that not only duplicated the original trial, but it also fired continuously for 48 minutes and 12 seconds (over 21,000 rounds)."

For all practical purposes, overheating wouldn’t be an issue. Every victim would have either died or found cover before 21,000 rounds were fired.

I saw one in a local national guard armory once, in the arms locker. They still have it, and it looked functional.

I have heard that one criticisms of “bump stocks” is that they will cause a semi-automatic weapon to overheat (the other criticism is that they reduce accuracy - sadly, not a problem when you are spray shooting into a crowd).

Weight: 103 lbs
There is a reason why it was replaced. Good for fixed defensive positions. Not so good if you have to move around.

In this particular scenario, it would have been effective. But the 1986 machine gun ban meant he couldn’t have gotten one.

Ill take Conspiracy Theories for $200 please, Alex Jones.

Why he did it seems pretty well answered from what I’ve read. He tried to go after Ted Walker before that. And there’s what his wife said, and his attempts at being accepted as a Communist.

It seems like he wanted to prove himself to be important, so that the Communists would take him. He had problems with his own insignificance.

As for Jack Ruby: he was a patriotic man who killed the guy who killed the President. Then he stayed in prison until he died of cancer. Seems pretty simple to me.
