I probably would have happily signed on as a viewer, having watched House from start to finish, but I just don’t like Freddie Highmore.
I’ve been watching it and meh, I’ve seen worse but there are a couple things that are absolutely inexcusable. Worst example is the mighty head surgeon who bosses all the residents, getting all set to do what’s portrayed as world class level fetal surgery and he’s all ready to make the first incision and he says “Knife!” WTeverlastingF? KNIFE? What kind of halfassed bullshit is this, they can’t be arsed to go with, y’know, “scalpel?” Or “ten blade?” No, he wants a KNIFE. And it’s not like this is an isolated error–fucker does the same goddamned thing ten minutes later on another surgery! KNIFE. I would laugh and laugh to see the scrub nurse hand this idiot a half opened Swiss Army multi tool because dayum.
Took me right out of the show, it did.

The US had a remake also, set on the US/Mexican border.
My friends with children on the spectrum dislike this show for many obvious reasons.
I wanted to like it but Shaun Murphy is written such that it is impossible to have any empathy for him. His social failings make life hard for every innocent person he comes in contact with.
I think it will work better in the follow up series about an autistic cop.
