The NRPS appreciation thread.

I got into my old vinyl today.

All I can say is that they are the epitome of 70’s country rock.

Glendale Train
Kick in the Head
Dim Lights Thick Smoke
Lonesome LA Cowboy
Last Lonely Eagle
Dirty Business
Panama Red
Henry.

The list goes on and on.

If you can find some of their music…go for it.

And if you like NRPS, don’t forget your Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen.

One of my kids recently started listening to a fusion-country-rock group. So I showed him my NRPS stuff and gave him the old “C’mon kid, try it. All the other cool kids listen to this.” Just a couple more weeks and I think he’ll be hooked on it.

NRPS and AoPR are just all-together gems. HHotR wasn’t so good overall but that live cover of “Dead Flowers” is one of my all time favorite songs. Not so much after that.

And to top it all off, I did get me a “Portland Woman”.

You can add Pure Prairie League to the list.

RE: Commander Cody - “The Down to Seeds and Stems Again Blues” is one of my most requested sing-in-the-shower numbers (as is “Mama Hated Diesels”).

Too much fun, that’s news to me
Too much, there must be
Aint’ a whole lot of things that I’ve never done
But I’ve never had too much fun

“Henry” is one of my two favorite bluegrass dope songs. The other is “Strike a Match and Light Another” by Cat Mother & the All Night Newsboys.
