Wow. I have to take the bait, it’s just too tasty.
So, someone with the middle name Joseph must be just like Stalin, all the Adolfs are really Hitler wannabes, and my middle name is Elizabeth. Shit, no one ever told me I was British Royalty and I was supposed to remain a VIRGIN!
Dammit.
I don’t care that my logic is flawed. It made me laugh, and it doesn’t make any more sense than thinking Hussein means anything more than the Hebrew/Arabic/African it came from, meaning “handsome”!
People are so fixated on the guy’s name. An awful lot of people have some mighty stupid names. Who cares? It’s like standing up in a crowd of seated people and yelling, “Hey, your name sounds like somebody else’s!!!” Quizzical stares and everyone thinking “… and your point is … ?”
I needed paramedic care and 911 was called when I was 7, because I was playing an aggressive game of Red Rover and got the wind knocked out of me and a mild concussion. Rand Rover must have it out for me because he has the word Rover in his name!
Unfortunately, the people intelligently criticizing Obama’s proposed health care changes are getting drowned out by these sorts of numbskulls. And the leadership of the Republican party doesn’t seem to have the power to focus the debate …
And it really is unfortunate. When the opposition party has been overwhelmed with this kind of insanity, it makes it much easier for the party in power to push virtually anything through, because it sounds relatively reasonable in that context. We need to have a serious discussion of these issues; but one side of the debate is wallowing in insanity, and the other side seems perfectly content to just point and laugh, and then say, “See? Vote for us!”
I haven’t completely abandoned hope that one day, with determination and a bit of luck, you will succeed in concocting a “defense” to bad behavior by your ideological brethren that amounts to something other than “well, some Democrat/liberal somewhere did something bad once too!” But when it happens, I pray that I am firmly seated and not in mid-sip.
I’m hating someone for being willfully scared and ignorant. That dude can read. He has chosen to believe outrageous lies instead of thinking for himself.
Also he is way too tall to be a hobbit. Unless he drank so magic water or something.
Hey, I have found our muppet friend a much more comely townhaller to keep him company. This silly bitch is the one who went off about being 35 and never being interested in politics before, and how we need to return to the constitution… and so on. She’s being interviewed on Hardball. Sadly Chris Mathews isn’t there today, so we get Lawrence O’Donnell, a good interviewer, but a little too heavy handed for my tastes.
She is as uninformed as the muppet, but isn’t so painfully pathetic. She just doesn’t know what she’s talking about.
I keep trying to get a look at the true face of the Republican party, but unfortunately he keeps getting obscured by the massive hordes of crazy faced Republicans standing in front of him.
Well, don’t underestimate that. I think a lot of people see themselves as cornering one of those wooly-headed Congressmen, hitting them with one of those common-sense, salt of the earth questions that blows him away, hey, the next Joe the Dumber.
But much less than that is the sense of participation, a sense that is fostered by the Limbaugh/Beck/Hannity Axis of Anal. Thats a powerful thing, a sense of being part of something grand, something epochal. Its a delusion, they’re being used with cynical aplomb.
No, you are confusing the way actual Obama supporters look at him with the fantasy version that the right wing has been pushing. It’s the right not the left that talks about how the left looks at Obama as some sort of Messiah or whatever. Which is extra amusing since that exactly the way the Right looked towards Reagan and Bush II; as God-chosen messiahs, and people that God demands you vote for.
They ( and apparently you ) are projecting their own behavior onto others, that’s all.
I think its a bit too soon to start collecting signatures to rescind the 25th Amendment and replace it with a President for Life provision. Maybe next year.
