The Official Election Fraud Thread

It’s fairly clear that a Bush win depends very much on the success of these dirty tricks. It’s also clear that to most Repubs, staying in power is more important than ethics.

I am concerned about undervoting, and it would be a red flag if the numbers jumped up after a new system was installed, but it does happen.

In the example cited, where the guy was incredulous that someone would drive to the polls, get a ballot, and then vote for no one? Well, I was specifically told, in inspector training, that this happens, particularly in elections where it’s a single issue or office (as descibed in the example). There is a regular cadre of voters who believe in going to the polls and having a perfect voting record in every election–but they will decline to vote about issues they don’t know or care about. Like, retired people who want to be on the record as voting, but who don’t care about the local school board.

Our ballot system automatically spits the ballot back out, without counting it, if the ballot if blank (or there are other errors). An election inspector sees a readout of why it was rejected and can ask the voter, “It says here that you cast no votes, is that right?” and then can override the machine to force it to accept the ballot and count what’s there (if anything). I would expect electronic voting machines to raise the same red flags with voters.

Here’s a new one from Florida: if you have an absentee ballot, don’t give your ballot to a stranger who knocks on your door and claims to be from the elections office.

 And here I thought, after everything that’s happened this year, that I was past the point of being shocked! Even for the Pubs, this is beyond the pale!

You are shocked after what happened 4 years ago in Florida? We have Dictator Bush because of that. And I don’t believe that just because a Republican wins, it was election fraud. I hated Reagan with a passion. However, I always thought he won fair and square, and that just the American people were fools.

Of course not. But before Bush II, no one would have felt it necessary even to say that! :frowning:
