The official post-Election Day thread:11/7/12

I’d love to see Ham Rove fight Jack’o’Lantern Trump.

Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are way down, which makes me happy.

Got a link? Sounds worth reading.

It’s just one tweet, but read it and feel the wonderful entitled bitterness:

Trump really flipped his wig Tuesday night and did a lot of over-the-top whining/trolling on Twitter. Apparently he somehow managed to embarrass himself because he deleted some of the tweets later.

Interesting stuff on the electoral map:

The most Republican state, unsurprisingly, was Utah: 72.7% for Mitt. Other than that special case, it was Wyoming: 69.7% Mitt.

Most Democratic state (suprisingly to me at least) was Vermont: 67.1% Obama. The District of Columbia was a whopping 91.4% Obama.

I was bemused when I saw my ballot yesterday; for my Congressional representative I had a choice between a Democrat (and probably the most liberal one in Congress), and the Peace & Freedom Party candidate. I realize that I may not live in an area that’s entirely representative of the US as a whole.

Impossible.

Donald Trump embarrassing himself, not making and deleting stupid tweets.

I thought Victoria Jackson was the one who took the award for the most unhinged tweets though.

Just learned that a Chicago woman who was in labor stopped to vote on the way to the hospital. Wow!: Galicia Malone, Chicago Woman In Labor, Votes En Route To Hospital | HuffPost Chicago

It’s sort of like the bitter herb at a Passover Seder.

More than Hawaii? Democratic stronghold forever and Obama’s home state? Wow.

Funny thing that occurred to me: I read that New Jersey can still vote until Friday, and by e-mail. What if enough votes came in, by hook or by crook, between now and then to actually turn the state to Romney?

Then I saw that Obama’s ahead by over 500,000 and that little bubble broke. Ah well.

Here’s a serious question: of the states called for one candidate or the other right now, which is the most likely to have its call proven incorrect? How many are there for which such a scenario is even likely? Not many, I wager, and certainly not enough to change the current outcome, but just curious.

Hers were more sincere. I don’t know if that’s better or worse.

The county where I live had the highest percentage of votes for Jill Stein (Green Party) of any county in the US - 2.1%. I’m surprised the Socialists only got 0.07%.

Well there’s that name: Socialist. I’m sorry, but for a lot of Americans, especially the uninformed ones, campaigning as a Socialist is a lot like campaigning for the Rapist Party or the Pedophile Party. Not a matter of issues, but the name Socialist just isn’t gonna fly in the US anytime soon. The Peace and Prosperity Party works a lot better.

I like you Leaps. I’ve been watching you throughout this election season. I gotta tell you…I’ve been a bit worried about you. I wanted to comfort you sometimes and say, “It’s all gonna work out…don’t worry” but I couldn’t do that. I was worried myself.

The time has come though. I can finally reach out to you and say, relax. It’s all over now. Romney can’t get you. Go ahead and relax into the ample bosom of a Romney free future.

Judging by some folks, you’d think the socialists got 50% of the vote last night.

With the news of Tester beating Rehberg, I can finally finish letting out my sigh of relief. Having lived in Montana for over a decade, I feel a sort of connection to that race.

The interesting thing about the presidential race is that all of the third-party voting seems to have come out of Romney’s end. What do you make of that?

In a very minor point (at least for me, I live in Washington state), Colleen Lachowicz (D) won the Maine State Senate District 25 election. This is the woman whose opponent attempted to “smear” her by outing her as an Orc Assassin on World of Warcraft.

What do you mean? He lost votes because of a 3rd party candidate (Johnson)

I offer you my sympathies.

Been there myself. Shoe, other foot.

**Leaper **was right to doubt. Hawaii came in at 70.6% for Obama. I’m sure Vermont is having an existential crisis about that, and wondering whether it too should move to the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
