IANAphysicist and this is a WAG, and I haven’t seen the movies (either of them), but I’m not sure.
Her spine would definitely snap from the impact, but there’s still cartilage, muscle, skin, tissues, etc. holding her head to her body. Unless there’s some serious rope burn going on, her head would still be attached, albeit at a right angle to her spinal column.
Is there still the scene where the photographer is decapitated by a sheet of glass flying from the back of a truck ? That was one of my all time favorite death scenes.

In this one, the photographer is gruesomely decapitated by a falling metal store sign. It was very gory.
Why is that? How does it happen that some people – not just Damien, but Father Brennan and, it is implied, many others – are born with the 666 birthmark? I don’t recall that being explained in the original or any of the sequels.
And then nothing happens! WRT the Vatican, I mean. As far as we can see, the pope and the Church play no role at all in, and never become aware of, the unfolding events of the film. (Father Brennan gets involved, but, it is implied, as a rogue, without his superiors’ knowledge.) They might just as well have cut that part entirely.

And, either way, wouldn’t it make more sense to have the number represented by Greek or Hebrew letters? Arabic numerals were unknown in Europe when the Book of Revelation was written.

I think that only Damien was born with the 666. It grew on those who
were his disciples. I seem to recall in the novel if not the film of THE FINAL CONFLICT: Omen III that one of his disciples rejoices to see that he finally
was honored to be granted the 666 when it appeared on him.
