Umm, we’re talking about a restaurant named DELMONICO’S. And we’re, umm, talking about a steak called the DELMONICO.

And anyone who’s eaten in a half-decent restaurant has seen how most put their specialties on the first or second page. In fact, have you ever seen a printed list of specials sitting on TOP OF YOUR MENU?? That was brilliant analysis, really.

Granted, I haven’t met your dog, but a guess by the OED is considerably more credible. A guess by the writers of the OED on such matters is considerably more credible than guesses by most PEOPLE, much less their girlfriends, I mean dogs.
