We’ve had a lot of pit threads involving brutal crimes against children but this one just might be the most incomprehensively evil thing I’ve ever seen.
I saw this one and I just couldn’t fucking believe it.
That poor, poor child.
I also am having a hard time mustering my anti-death penalty sentiments for the specimen “mother” responsible. Fucking horrendous.
I know PPD is a real problem, and I’m loath to bring up the “this never happened in the old days” argument, but seriously, what the hell is going on? Can’t you leave the kid in a basket in front of the fire station?
No, I’m thinking “complete evil” or “sadistic sick fuck.” How is microwaving a one-month child going to get you more crack? Selling the kid, or the microwave, or neglecting him/her because of the crack addiction makes more sense.
I got no problems with the death penalty. Left to my own devices, I could not necesarily be opposed to wiring up electric bleachers, filling same with those on death row, and holding a raffle to throw the switch on live PPV.
But I usually prefer to wait for a conviction and the exhaustion of all appeals…
Absent conflicting evidence, it is my opinion that anyone who would do such a thing is most likely the victim of a full-blown psychotic episode. The victim of such a aberration is not responsible for their actions. Justice simply doesn’t enter into it.
To ascribe a more sinister motive to it than simple batshit insanity, maybe she did it because she wanted the baby dead and thought the microwave, cooking from within as it does, would leave no telltale signs.
I don’t want to speak for ElvisL1ves, but don’t people do some pretty fucked up shit while they’re on crack? I thought s/he was just half-joking that this assbag douchetwat must have been on drugs to do something so horrible.
I took it as a reference to the urban legend mentioned in the referenced Cecil column; of course, that legend also popped into my head when I read the OP, so perhaps I’m biased.
Innocent until proven guilty and all, but what the hell does the child being with a babysitter the night before have to do with anything? Are they really trying to imply the child was microwaved the night before, and they didn’t notice anything wrong when the got home, and the child died the next day? Are they really implying that this sort of death would not be instantaneous?
