The Pacific 4/11/10

I’ve only seen one episode (the one where some bloke shoots himself) so perhaps its not really fair of me to comment, and found it very slow going.

Portraying P.T.S.D. is not new and has been done too many times in the past for it to seriously impact the average viewer.

I will watch more episodes in the future but I’m not very excited about the prospect.

I think it’s inexcusable that entire episodes of a series, supposedly about war, would be devoted to bedwetting and finding romance in Australia.

My big issue with the series is that I can’t identify anyone. Rarely do they seem to use names, and there was no real introduction to the characters at the beginning of the series.

The filming in the dark for 99% of the combat (though it may be 100% accurate), also make it tough to identify which white, similarly sized, dark haired marine, who is covered in mud, and sounds the same as the rest, is which. BoB had such a wide range of “looks,” and all that time in training to learn who was who, and made it easy to identify the characters, and follow their story.

I’ll watch the rest of them, but this doesn’t come close in quality/interest as the BoB series.

I’m starting to be able to tell the characters apart, though it’s still pretty tough when they’re wearing helmets.

I thought this most recent episode kicked all kinds of ass and I’m stoked for this 3-episode arc.

Band of Brothers did not have combat in every episode - #1 was and #10 had no combat. #1 was all on training and #10 was at the end and after the war. Other episodes only were partly about combat.
