The Pope's Bullshit attempt to appear liberal about gays!

I can’t believe you’re comparing analogies to ninja powers! That’s supes offensive.

Analogies killed my father.

And I totally agree with that. I do NOT agree, however, with the analogy to the KKK.

And yet, it remains apt.

I’m struggling to find evidence that you understand what an analogy is.

No, jsgoddess. Analogies ARE your father.

Chimera, telling other posters to fuck themselves is a violation of the Pits language rules. Please avoid this in the future.

No warning issued.

It’s a bad analogy. The whole point of the KKK is to hurt and discriminate against minorities; that’s why they exist. The whole point of the Catholic Church is their interpretation of Jesus and what he wants them to do and be like. Opposing gay rights is a sideline.

The Ku Klux Klan is:

Extremely conservative,

dedicated to the presevation of Christian values

led by men in skirts who allow women to join but not to be members of the hierarchy.

Ruled by an exalted leader of great authority.

Use the cross of Christ as their primary symbol.

Have often used violence, torture and killing in the past to repress those who contradict them, but not for many years now.

In the 20th century, they were virulently anti-communist but rather soft on and cosy with fascism and naziism.

Claim to be misunderstood and unfairly attacked by ranting liberals

Are proud of the good they do such as helping widows and orphans, and would like the media to recognize these positive aspects

Are extremely homophobic and oppose gay rights and same-sex marriage

Now then, the Roman Catholic Church. . . . . . say, why don’t you fill in the blanks, dear reader?

Yes they do but I’m really not worried about them banishing birth control (since that is my big complaint about them) since the RCC does not run this country (thank God for separation of church and state, right?) Personally if I don’t agree with them (like I said, I am a “Cafeteria Catholic”) then I simply ignore the teaching along with most of the other Catholics (and yes I realize that Catholics are not the only denomination who picks and chooses what they want to follow). The RCC has no legal authority in the United States so if they want to be against gay marriage then that is the prerogative of the hierarchy; they are entitled to their opinions as much as anybody else and they have no legal ground in America to enforce their will on others because if they did then I can guarantee you that abortion would be illegal and so would artificial insemination, contraception, and the death penalty.

Hey, just because they shop at the samemenswear outlet…

Oh, what the hell. . . .

The walrus and me: a comparison
Me:

Can grow whiskers
Don’t mind cold weather
Swim
Eat seafood
Sometimes make loud, funny noises
Would like a large harem to mate with, but it’s probably not going to happen.

Now then, the Walrus . . .

Coo coo cachoo.

I guess what I’m trying to say is simply that I believe that the church CAN be affected from within, if people make a big enough fuss, if enough people piss off the Vatican enough. Hell, look at the huge broo ha ha about all these nuns questioning the churches position on women’s rights. And anyone who went to Catholic school will tell you that the nuns most likely had more of an impact than the priests.

Perhaps that’s naive.

You forgot the most obvious. You can both sit and pound a computer keyboard all day without making a fucking ounce of sense.

It contrasts markedly from his predecessor, and possibly signals that gays and gay rights isn’t going to be this pope’s fight.

According to the CIA World Factbook France is 83-88% Roman Catholic.

?? Oh, you need to cite the RC allying with skinheads. Or retract.

At any rate, if gay marriage is passing in Catholic strongholds like France and Brazil, and Francis isn’t drawing a line in the sand over it, that can certainly be taken as a change in tone and emphasis.

What a shock, Valteron immediately jumps on his favorite hobby-horse.

Dude, what is this thing you have with Islam.

Did some Muslim boyfriend complain that all you were good for was two quick pumps and a tickle afterwards?

If so, apologies. We can expect a bit much.

I’ve always thought it funny for all your rantings that the guy who set up my mother and father was a Canadian diplomat who specifically came to Iran because foreign service in the Muslim World was so popular for gays in the Anglo World. Admittedly they generally preferred Beirut, but life in Tehran was more relaxing than life in London, New York or Toronto.

No. The whole point of the KKK is celebrating and supporting the chosen people. Through ritual and organization they create a social community capable of political action to achieve the world they feel should persevere. Opposing minority rights is sideline.

That’s not remotely true as anyone familiar with their history can testify to.

They were formed by Southerners bitter over the fact that they lost the Civil War and outraged that so many “uppity niggers” had forgotten their place and who engaged in what modern people would regard as “terrorism” to ale revenge for perceived wrongs.

Sure there is sordid history, but that’s not what practioners currently feel about their organization.

Bitch please.

They’re still bitter white losers pissed at being losers despite being white.
