The power of old SOL

With the recent rise in LP I decided to enclose our open front porch. I did it very simply.
Being somewhat of a Scrooge I just made wooden frames that fit into the openings
between pillars and covered it with plastic. This makes a room 8’x25’ and keeps the
wind off 200 sq ft of the house.
As I write this it is 26f in the shade. It is 38f in the sun and 76f on my front porch.
The 3 mill plastic costs less than $7.00 and the wood about $16.00. I already had that
material so my actual cost was nothing.

I wish I had done this years ago.

I actually opened the door to let some of that FREE heat in.

Must People Soak In My Sun?

Wow, you mean you are actually using Passive Solar heating? If not for the fact that I’ve lived in more than one house that were originally built to use this, I’d be more impressed.

What’s the Satalite of Love have anything to do with this?

Man, and I thought we were gonna talk about fun stuff…

And it’s off to MPSIMS we go!

That is cool, er, hot, if only that you are slowing heat loss. Q=UAdT; loss = 1/R factor X Area X heat difference, and dT just went to 0 for that wall. Wow.

YAY! Someone got my joke…

Didn’t you?

I’m still trying to figure out who’s “shit out of luck” in this thread.
[wanders off in puzzlement]

Golly Gee whiz Czarcasm
Mundane? Pointless?

It got up to 82f at 3:00pm on the porch.
It is now 14f outside and 25f on the porch.
Thats 10 degrees I don’t have to heat.
That wall has 4 windows and the door for a total of 62.5sq ft of glass.

Hmmm Maybe this is a more than cosmic topic.Yeah thats it.
