The President Elimination Game

Yes you may.

So we’re still stuck with a need for 2 more voters?
How long do we wait?

I joined the forum just to move this along. I’ll vote Reagan, for now.

I’m not so sure a minimum requirement is a good idea, we can’t really expect this to get 20 votes every time without waiting forever. just picks a number (like 20) and a time period ( like 5 days), and the round ends after either of those marks are reached.

Does that sound ok?

Welcome aboard! Initiation starts in an hour. I hope you’re not allergic to latex gloves or goats.

No, it’s not. Jimmy Carter pursued a foreign policy of supporting countries based on their human rights record and as a result withdrew total, committed support support for the Shah of Iran, which emboldened his enemies and triggered the events that lead to the Iranian Revolution.

I wish I had all that free time. Let me ask one simple question: would the government of Iran allowed the US Embassy attacked and hostages held if Reagan were President? Don’t you think the Ayatollah and his cronies were emboldened by the fact that Carter was weak-kneed? (OK that was 2 questions! But there! :))

If we’re now allowed to change votes, I’ll change mine to Reagan. YogSosoth convinced me.

My vote for Madison still stands. Let’s do this thang.

I think we broke the game…

Heck with it. I find the exercise interesting.

St. Ronald Reagan, the greatest leader in the history of Western Civilization, has been ousted by a Communist plot.

Back to Madison.

International relations 101: find out who the most powerful country in the world is. Then don’t get into a war with them.

Madison, enthusiastically seconded.

Oh, ground rules, since the coup: 20 votes or 5 days, whichever is sooner. I may or may not be around on Sunday at 11:05 AM; if someone else feels like doing the tally & posting the next ballot, feel free. Else, I’ll do it as soon as possible thereafter.

Okay, since notfrommensa cast a vote for Arthur in the last round, I have some support. Let’s get Chester out of there!

Arthur pushed forward with civil-service reform after Garfield died, and started the modernization of the Navy. He had interesting facial hair. Even Mark Twain admitted he liked Arthur as President.

Madison couldn’t keep enemy troops from burning the White House. 'Nuff said.

I’m still not a fan of Lyndon Baines Johnson.

Andrew Jackson, for the whole Trail of Tears thing. I don’t care how manly or tough he allegedly was, this was a monumentally dickish thing to do, and borders on genocide.

Okay, I’ll throw in for Jackson.

Jackson was a rat bastard, and Madison certainly had an oops moment, but Rutherford B. Hayes sqandered a great opportunity for egalitarian democracy. He’s the Robert Mugabe of US History. Get him out of here.

Hayes. Again!

Hayes, the IIIrd.
